I see you have Right On Right On, Jimmy Ellis, who was unbeaten when he faced George Foreman in his first fight after Holyfield.
A couple of wrong things though, against Don Askew you say he was down, actually he wasn't. I got the tape, he broke his nose, but wasn't down. I think you're missing a few fights too.
Jimmy Ellis' record
Ring Magazine's ringside reports says "Ellis rebounded from a knockdown to stop Don Askew at 2:50". As you probably know, a fighter doesn't have to be lying on the canvas to be considered down, a touch of the knee or other bodypart is enough for the ref to give him a count. I myself haven't seen the fight, so please tell us what exactly did happen
It's a quick fight, Don Askew was dancing around peppering Ellis from every angle. Remember the commentators wondering who was the real "undefeated" fighter of the two. Ellis was bleeding like a pig, but at the end of the first, a left hook, Askew went down for the count.
Remember him lying there not even trying to get up, just crying, actually.
This was one of the first fights I got on video personally, so I remember it well. Ring magazine have often made mistakes. The Ole Klemetsen vs Reggie Johnson fight, most magazines have it Johnson was down in the first, but he wasn't, Klemetsen was down in the first.
Thanks for responding.
