Williams vs Mc Dermott for the British heavyweight title.

Post by el_grande_mauro_mina »

It's on folks!

I have given this some thought and I now think big John can pull this off.

He has a nice compact style, people can't look past his rounded physique but
the Chris Byrd defeat has given us another lesson (no 631) that a physique like
Zeus means bog all in a boxing ring.

So I predict Big John in 8-9 rounds. :box:

No chance.

Danny knocks him out and fast - 3 rounds max.

DG - you are hardly John McCririck as a tipster - didn't you predict great things
for Junior, Chris Byrd, Richard Williams, Eastman etc.

When you tip someone DG - I back the other guy and I always come up trumps! :TU:

Well, I think they all had success in their careers.

Junior Witter British Commonwealth European and World Champion.
Richard Williams Commonwealth Champion and IBO Champion.
Howard Eastman British Commonwealth European 3 time World Challenger.
Chris Byrd? no no no!

The day you pick John Mcdermott over Danny Williams? - you been on the beer again?

John Mccrrrriiiicckkkkk or whatever his name is has more chance.

So,you backed Hatton against PBF?

Whoops, I copied and pasted British Commonwealth European and World from Witters and forgot to delete the 'World' bit!

Danny will have too much power for the Big Mac.

Unlike Skelton, McDermmott isn't that good on his whiskers.

McDermmot can outbox Williams for a bit, if Danny is fat - but I don't think he has the power to really dent Danny.

With 2 fighters as seemingly mentally fragile and changeable as this pair just about any outcome is feasible.

If Danny is at his deadly best then he will KO McDermott early. If Williams is sluggish and out of sorts then McDermott has the skills to win on points, possibly.

Williams has to start a firm favourite due to past achievements but I certainly wouldn't put any money on either of these fruit cakes.

Williams' fight with Airich is still as well i think, despite the Sam-Skelton postponement. The date was kept but the venue changed, think Boxing News had it down.

Not sure where you think McDermmott is mentally fragile or especially "changeable"..... he's always fat and simply got out muscled vs Skelton - he has a weak chin.

I think McDermmott is pretty consistent, its a level below Danny, but he fights the same way and gives it a go.

I had heard Stu that he suffers terribly with nerves and dips in confidence. Thats what I was meaning by a potential 'fragility', although he showed no such lack of confidence when he steamed into Pele the other week, so maybe I have done the big guy a dis-service!

I think Danny is going to struggle for motivation in this one, not to mention he's moving further and further away from his prime, but he should still punch too hard for McDermott.

Has everyone gone mad with this crappy new look forum?

Danny is a few classes above McDermott. He'll bang him out of there early. McDermotts chin couldn't stand up to 1 right hand from Skelton, never a 1 punch hitter.

forgetting the boxing side of things because its obviously a one horse race.......but

if this was an eating competition, how do you think the battle would go and who would your money be on.

personally, i think danny would edge it early, with cakes and doughnuts, as he is naturally the bigger man, but macdermotts true class would show with 15 consecutive quarter pounders with cheese washed down with a litre of melted lard, this would be too much for dannys 37 vieneese whirls and i expect dannys corner to withdraw him to save him from further punishment round about the 11th course mark.

so, in terms of gastric capacity, im going for macdermot tko 11.

He'll change his mind once Danny plants a right hand on him in round 1.
