Here we go, with the 130-pound WBO

Post by Autobarn »

Arthur v Mitchell possible. Arthur dead at the weight, opportunity to pass the title he just "won" to another Sports Network fighter - Commonwealth and British champ Kevin Mitchell.

Hope it happens for the quality of the fight and the all British event but I don't respect the belt. Okay, Vester's probably stretching things a bit, making headlines out of rumour, hearsay and fragments of other people's articles for his pocket money - but we can all see it happening.

According to allegedly, WBO super featherweight champion Alex Arthur (26-1, 19KOs) could end up facing unbeaten Kevin Mitchell (26-0, 19KOs) by the end of the year.

Warren is currently working on setting up an opponent for Arthur's first defense of the WBO title. Arthur, recently the interim-champ, was elevated to full champion status after Joan Guzman vacated the title to move up to lightweight. Mitchell is the Commonwealth champion and is scheduled to make his American debut on the June 7 undercard to Kelly Pavlik-Gary Lockett at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Mitchell is ranked third by the WBO.

"I'm working on a first defense for Alex, but one fight I'm definitely looking to do is him against Kevin Mitchell, possibly by the end of the year," Warren explained.

Forget the title, its a great domestic match-up. I'd pay to watch it

Pay to watch it?

If you mean you will keep Setanta then fair enough, if you mean a 'Hatton Dick Turpin' then no!

I'd pay to watch it. Despite the bogus title I think it's a good matchup between the best Super Feathers in Britain.

We all knew this was going to happen, decent domestic fight, neither are real world champs but it will certainly give both exposure and should be a cracker. Who do we reckon will win? I'm edging towards Mitchell at this stage

I don't know why, but I think they Aussie guy who fought In Chin Chi and Chris John - might be a future title defence to Mitchell/Arthur. Durable, but limited.

Would be nice to get Gamboa over here, wont happen though

130s gone right down hill recently with Guzman, JMM, Pacman all leaving and Barrera/Morales dropping off too (both will fight at 135 if they fight again)

A the risk of getting laughed out of the forum, it would be better to get Gamboa now as he is bound to improve on that thing he calls a defence
