How can my family members become usa boxing officials?

Post by usaboxing123 »

i have 3 family members my mother, aunt and my cousin shes only 17 they all want to become usa boxing officials. Also if i am fighting are they allowed to be judges? I dont think it would be right if they were allowed to, even though i know they wouldnt cheat points for me. Are 17 year olds even allowed to be officials?. Also if they are registered in a certain state say California, are they allowed to be officials at a show in say Texas?.

Thanks a lot.

1. You must be 18 to be an official.
2. No, they would not judge your bouts.
3. Once you are registered with USA Boxing, you can officiate anywhere in the U.S.

There is a yearly membership fee (January to December) and once registered with USA Boxing, prospective officials must attend a 6-8 hour certification clinic.

Email me at [email protected], let me know the city and state you live in, and I'll give you the name and number of the registration chair in your area.

And get recertified every 24 months. Some officials take the re-certification clinic more often just to stay on top of things. I give coaches' clinics and do so about 4-5 times per year. I also attend officials' clinics to maintain my certification as an official and do so about every 6-12 months.

I hope your relatives do become officials as we always need new people to get involved.
