Say America wasn't so racist 100 years ago.

Heavyweight history would have been very different. Johnson was past his best when he finally got a shot and won. Say Johnson beat Jefferies in 1903 and then Sam Langford got a shot at him in about 1908. We could have been looking at a couple of 'black wars' in Johnson vs Langford. Burns, Root and Hart would not have got a look in. One of the great Ifs of boxing.

Nevada legalized boxing in 1897 to permit the James Corbett - Bob Fitzsimmons heavyweight title fight.
In 1919, the law was amended: "Contestants must be white men."

Johnson wasn't past his prime when he got his shot, he was in his prime. Anyway, I agree with what you say. Let's not forget the great Peter Jackson.
