Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
Reckon you are about right for Gomez
Prob more complex with Khan, wouldn't suprise me if he is not on a fight by fight purse at this stage of his career, he had a big signing on fee, prob gets paid weekly.
Either way he would be on much more, more than Witter had for any WBC defences

Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
£100k for the fight itself for khan before he got the belt, with a domestic title i think it went up to £150k.
Then endorsements from Reebok etc will double it.

Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
Not bad for a commonwealth title when you consider the highest for the British was 40k for Reid and 60k for Froch.
Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
I was watching it with two of my friends who are both pro boxers, and they said they thought Gomez would be on a lot more, nearer the 70k mark? i hope so as he deserves it, With it being a 10,000 sell out, live on itv and for a title and with micheal agreeing to behave in the run up ect the thought purse would be between 60-70k hope so guy deserves it.
Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
I reckon it would be closer to 30k than 40k
Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
Closer to £25,000 Id think.
Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
I thought I'd heard £25k from someone, but I can't recall where. :-/Scrap wrote:Closer to £25,000 Id think.

Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
Do you reckon only 150k for Khan? Given he was pulling in 10,000-20,000 from the start I would have thought it would be a tad bit more. I reckon if he resigns with Warren it will probably be 500k a fight.

Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
Thought I read someone quote Gomez as saying he couldn't believe FW was giving him 30K to hand Khan his head...
Re: Khan & Gomez purse???
I estimated 20-30k, which is a lot, especially when you consdier judah got about 100k for his unification fight with spinks. Only a select few will know for sure.
Amir question.
Now this might sound like a dumb question but....
which belts does Amir hold, Is one the wbu?

Re: Amir question.
wbo intercontinental and c'wealth isnt it?
Re: Amir question.
It looks like Boxrec might be wrong on this one. It states he currently holds the Commonwealth title and won the Intercontinental WBO belt but I though he also won an IBF Intercontinental Light Welter belt against Drilzane.
Re: Amir question.
No idea. how come he hasnt fought for the british lightweight? who holds that?Wales wrote:wbo intercontinental and c'wealth isnt it?

Re: Amir question.
Lol, serious? How can they borrow a belt. No wonder ITV want nothing to do with them!
Emma, brit title is being fought by Murray and Meager on July 11th.

Re: Amir question.
fighters that choose not to go the traditional route are ruining boxing. period.
Re: Amir question.
Calzaghe and hatton (i.e. Frank warrens boys) did a pretty good job..rhino222 wrote:fighters that choose not to go the traditional route are ruining boxing. period.
Re: Amir question.
Well Calzaghe holding on to the WBO deccoration for years without fighting a unification managed to deny us of some good matches ditto Hatton droping the British title.observer1 wrote:Calzaghe and hatton (i.e. Frank warrens boys) did a pretty good job..rhino222 wrote:fighters that choose not to go the traditional route are ruining boxing. period.
I really think that Khan should go for the winner of the Meger Murray match. He's not going to win a world title any time soon and he would be in a competitive fight with a actual proper title on the line.

Re: Amir question.
He should definately go for the British Title. Think about what it would do for his image. He would probaaly get 's*cked off' even more than he does already
Re: Gomez - Khan should fight Brits First.
It's a shame he said that Khan has "no power". That doesn't bode well for Khan.
