Young Larry finding out how fatal a lazy jab can be.
Makes you think about these fighters nowadays with limited amateur background.

The way I'd heard some reports of the Bobick fight made it sound like Holmes was almost a coward, crawling his way out of the ring and other nonsense. Just re-emphasises how a great amateur career can often mean absolutely nothing in the pro game. Tillman - Tyson springing to mind.
Did anybody see Larry beat Rodney Bobick? The ropes were so loose that I though somone was going to fall out of the ring.

Larry said he didn't like being "pushed in the ring" with a fighter that much heavier...I didn't realize how strict amateur rules are... If the "holding" rules were applied to the pros every other match would end in a disqualification...Flump wrote:The way I'd heard some reports of the Bobick fight made it sound like Holmes was almost a coward, crawling his way out of the ring and other nonsense.
