Archie Moore - the trainer...

Post by Robinson »

We have all no doubt come across short snippets,
anecdotes, or seen him in the corner.

I was interested in hearing from all of you about
ole Archie as a trainer. He seemed to be a decent
mentor and coach from all accounts and it is quite
obvious that his many years in the ring qualified him
enough.

How long was he with Ali for after he turned pro ?

I have also noticed that he seemed to have a very
good relationship with George Foreman and seemed
fond of Jerry Quarry.

Thanks again guys

Muhammad Ali didn't like Moore because he tried to change his style and make him mop floors... I also know they had quite a bit of back and forth verbal sparring prior to the Rumble In The Jungle...Foreman was the vehicle by which he would even the score with Ali...

Moore helped Eddie Futch train Ken Norton to beat Muhammad Ali.
