I Have Learned A Lot At This Site (and) Solomon McTier

I am somewhere between an avid and a casual fan though I have two favorite boxers, Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali, and I think I know a bit about their histories...Also, being around the same age as Iron Mike I think I know a bit about him.

I learned about my uncle who fought in the light heavies in the thirties and had a common opponent with Jake LaMotta at this board ...I private messaged Robinson his record. And more interesting I learned about my friend as a youth, Mark Orman, who fought Solomon McTier...I used to work out at the same gym as Mark in Daytona Beach in the late seventies...He was about a dozen years older than me and he was quite a character...Since this is a public board I will leave it at that...He was an aspiring bodybuilder ,wrestler,Elvis impersonator,and boxer...One time he even talked our way into Disney World for free...At the time I knew he had some "professional" fights....This was a long time ago, mind you...I looked up his record and found it here:

I am impressed...My friend had four pro fights and they are listed here...But the story gets much better...I couldn't fall asleep last night and was watching ESPN Classic...They had the first Frazier-Ellis fight and then the Muhammad Ali-Alex Miteff fight ...I believe this was before Ali met the mystic, Bundini Brown...Low and behold one of the men in Ali's corner was Solomon McTier...The same Solomom McTier who at 46 years old knocked out my friend, Mark Orman-the aspiring twenty nine year old boxer, in one round...

I'll bet McTier rememembers his last opponent of his entire career, the 6'6 220 pound white guy he knocked out...

I haven't seen or spoke to Mark in about thirty years...And Solomon McTier lives about twenty miles from me ...It's a small world...
