Khan has a new trainer

Over on sky sports & in the Mirror they are reporting it is Jorge Rubio, the man who coached Kindelan.

Seems an odd choice if it is right.

His name cropped up in Khan's local paper over the weekend. Possibly he was the only one who would base himself here. Roach would hardly come to Bolton to train Amir if Manny needed preparing for a fight. What is the odds he is a bit cheaper as well

David Haye took his technique to the next level by training with a Cuban former ama coach in Miami for a while. While that won't guarantee it for Khan, it could be a nice precedent.

If the guy can refine and hone Khan's raw physical talent, then that will be fine. Khan will always have an amateur style anyway. I doubt we'll ever see him plant his feet and throw compact shots, for instance.

You have to wonder if Warren has any kind of input in these decisions, because I am sure as hell he wouldn't be too happy with this choice.

Maybe it is because he is coming cheap, or maybe it is because khan only feels comfortable with a coach that does what he wants rather than the other way around.

First there was Roger/Floyd Sr cos he wants to be like PBF, then there was Roach, cos he probably got caught up in the Pac-Man hype. Then there was McGirt, who is overrated anyway, now there's the guy that trained the brilliant Kindelan...

Jorge Rubio is an excellent trainer. In South Florida his fighters have been knocking people out left and right. I'm not talking Amateur's neither. Didn't anybody on here watch Antwone Smith knock out Juan Camilo Novoa a few weeks ago on ESPN? Antwone was bought in to lose that fight and look at what happened. Plus John Jackson and Angelo Santana have been scoring knockouts galore. Ricky Hernandez. Just about everyone down here in South Florida who trains under Jorge Rubio has been on a tear. Just because Jorge isn't as popular as Roach or Manny or McGirt that doesn't mean jack. Not to mention that Jorge helped Gamboa a LOT in his last fight. If Amir works WITH Jorge and not AGAINST him, this can turn out great. Jorge has been doing excellent the last couple years. Only way this turns out bad is if Amir screws it up. . . And lets face it, there was NO trainer out there who could've saved Kindelan. That was a lost cause.

It obviously has escaped your attention, but Khan has already left a good up and coming trainer, over what was allegedly nothing to do with training technique.

Mmm i'll reserve judgement too until after his next fight. Hopefully they get someone in soon otherwise it'll be another scrub.

It was never gonna be Roach he has loads of fighters already and Khan would have to move to L.A. With a Pacquiao fight mentioned for the future (It'll never happen) i doubt Roach would work with Khan.

As for the Mayweather's again Khan would have to relocate to America.
