Could Abie Kaby the Wampus Cat from Dixie be Abe Kabakoff ?
It certainly appears they may be one and one same.
I only (vaguely) know the one who boxed in the Northwest.
(I wonder if he, too, got run out of town and changed his name -- much like Battling Slim of Bellingham had to do, after he blatantly fouled Willard Dix, when he "fled" to Portland, and became "Slim Ryan." Nah, just kidding about Abe. It appears he was working for a shipyard during World War I, and somehow wound up in this area.) The stories we learn while researching these old papers. :P
