It seems like Ricky made the right choice. He can't go easy in training because he doesn't want to hurt his trainer.

Ricky could have said "you are my trainer, and he is your assistant" OK maybe Billy isnt as fit as he was but his knowledge and his ability to mentally prepare Hatton is surely very important. I dont think we are being told everything. Will Hatton be the same fighter without Billy around and having him in his corner? I dont think Billy would have minded delegating to the younger man. If Hatton just didnt want to pay two of them, then shame on him. With only a few fights left it seems daft to let Graham go. They won fights as a team and Billy was a vital element.

What a load of bollocks, you don't need to be super fit or even that physically able to be a trainer.

Physical fitness as a trainer as nothing to do with it. Angelo Dundee was still training fighters up until a few years back - he trained welterweight David Estrada for the early part of his career. A trainers main job is passing on their knowledge about the game to the fighters, overseeing the fighters training and devising strategies for the fight - and providing sound advice during the fight. Anyone can take a boxer on the pads - whenever I saw the training camp of Erik Morales it was never his father who took him on the pads. But I always thought Hatton and Billy were quite close and it would be a shame if he really was sacked over money.

Hatton doesn't come out well in all this tbh. If he valued Graham's input he would still have a part to play in the setup. I hate to second guess situations because I know neither of them or their trainer/boxer relationship in reality. But it does appear that they have come to the end of a line for one reason or another.

look at Freddie Roach - the guy is near the top of the tree amongst trainers and is battling the early on set of PArkinsons.

Billy is not physically up to the physical side of the game but according to Hatton, didnt want to work with another coach and oversee stuff, where does that leave Hatton?
Working with a guy who wont let anyone else in but not doing a good a job as he used to?

It's been a very bad PR year for team Hatton, first the Witter dodging debacle (with an assortment of excuses) and now he gets rid of his mentor (with an assortment of excuses)
