He does look good but I hope he's not bulked himself up too much.

Ginuwine?

He looks overdeveloped to me, although my knowledge is a bit lacking. Someone with a top chin could wait for those big arms to tire in the middle rounds.

David's always had a similar build - albeit much larger - to me. Khan is also that kind of shape; small waist with a muscular chest and prominent latissimi dorsi. Along with naturally visible traps and slender forearms. Haye's built for speed and agility.

I'd be more confident of his chances at 225. His traps and biceps are overcooked in this photo. Also, I didn't realise quite how long his neck is before now.

(His stomach looks a tiny bit distended, but that could easily be from all the extra food. There's no skull growth, although that takes years of abuse to manifest.)

I just hope Haye trains as hard to increase his endurance, rather than to improve his beach body

Disappearing off the map to Turkish Cyprus and reappearing that much bigger and that cut will raise suspicions. As it did when he put on all the weight after Thompson.

I really don't believe there's any foul play, because Haye is very knowledgeable about nutrition and fitness, and he really takes it seriously.

I hope he has the VO2 Max to be able to feed all those muscles in the 11th of a tough fight.

Good luck, David. A nicer guy that he's given credit for, and an exciting fighter.

That is just growth due to a training session.

DG looks like that after a work out (but about 70lbs lighter!).

Not too much bulk on DH.

and Lewis also never fought pro as a cruiserweight. So what is your point?

I think Holyfield is a far better analogy.

That said, I am not impressed by body builder style physiques - they just dont suit the sport of boxing, especially where the muscle is 'packed on' to a naturally slimmer frame.

I hope he has been spending as much time refining his boxing skills as he has practising his front lat spread..

Bloody hell... Well theres goes my hope of an old fashioned 217 lb fast handed heavyweight hitter cleaning up the lumbering freaks.

Haye has bought into the 'bigger is better' hype of modern times and has become one of the Klitschko Grant Rahman type weight lifter freaks.

Is all that muscle going to make him punch harder? No.

Is it going to slow him down to the heavyweights pace and hurt his stamina? Yes.

Yeah true, that muscle isn't going to add to what he needs at HW, which is speed and power - especially seeing as he needs to protect that chin for as long as possible. I guess he wants the bulk to help him match the big boys strength, though I'd have thought he'd be better off playing to his natural strengths - but what the hell do I know.
Looking forward to seeing how his HW debut goes, as long as it's a decent opponent that is.

Firstly, I believe weight training does add some power and stamina, provided the person ensures they're training both their fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibres correctly and rotating them as part of a course.

Secondly, looking at that picture there's no way David is on juice of any kind. It's quite easy to put on the bulk he has without use of any kind of analbolic steroids. I've put on a stone and a half in 6 months with only the use of the correct suppliments and I don't have the ability to have quality, organic food like David does, plus I don't stretch. Plus David is a Mesomorph and I'm an Ectomorph. Also, as someone above has said, he's probably still got a pump from his workout.

Thirdly, the Lad needs punch resistance and staying at 210 ain't gonna do that.

woa !!

im not sure people

i think a gradual thing is better

hes 6ft5 ? so the only real problem would have been the height..not so much the weight

its mobility and a big left that will beat wlad....not muscle

Haye does look to be in brilliant shape, but for a guy who weighs 235lbs, I personally do not think he looks that big. He's ripped & has obviously been doing some serious training, but look at his waist. It looks tiny for a guy of his size. I worry about his natural strength against guys like Klitzcho.

I just hope Haye is successful in his campaign at HW. I'm confident of him being successful & it would be brilliant if he were to become HW champion. Put the HW division back on the map again, give it a bit of character, charisma.

However, no one is perfect & at some stage Haye is going to have to take it on the chin by a the bug guys. That will be the telling point for me.

I can't believe how this has been allowed to happen. haye himself said that he wasn't going to bulk up this much!

What a f**king waste. He could have cleaned up. Now he'll be an immobile freak.

Nice work, idiot.

Training to put on weight and being a boxer are different.

Are you just training to build muscle? Are you also doing lots and lots of work on technique, improving skill, hitting the bag, footwork etc..? It's not so easy then...

I'd be happier to see him practising a few defensive manouveres rather than flexing up. I really believe he can be a force but it's skill he needs more of. Dedication to the art will pay better dividends than anything else he can do.

Haye already has the power...

I think he'll get hammered by Wladimir Klitschko imo. I’ve never been sure about David Haye. He comes across as an ass most of the time. Sometimes he seems quite nice though.

I always got the impression he’s not really interested in boxing. But more interested in himself.

He doesn’t want to be in boxing for another 2 years? I think he’s already had enough of the sport. He just wants to fight for the Heavyweight title for bragging rights in the future. Win or lose against Wladimir Klitschko I think he’ll retire. Nothing wrong with that though. What’s the point having all that money and having you’re brains smashed in every few months? Only to turn out like Ali and not be able to lead the life you should have.

This is just they way I see Haye.

Anyone who thinks him adding all this muscle mass is going to have any bearing on his ability to take a punch is seriously uninformed -- since when did lifting weights give anyone an iron chin?

David is a natural hitter & at 210 - 217 lb could of relied on speed & skills to deal with the robotic lumbering muscle-bound freaks.

Now David has turned himself into one of the circus freaks. As a guy whos been shown to have a dodgy chin and mediocre stamina, hes pretty much sealed his fate at heavy.

It's not just chin, you also train your body to withstand harder shots. Having said that, getting away with using more weights on a neck brace isn't going to make his chin any weaker.
