I am trying to find information on Jim Carey. He was my great grandmother's first husband. he was born in Wakefield in 1860 or 1861 and became a professional boxer. The family travelled around England selling goods from baskets door to door (Hawkers) to survive when not fighting. They went to the US in the late 1880's and then to Argentina, where he died after a fight in Buenos Aires. My great grandmother had 2 young children with her and was left destitute. She managed to get some money and boarded a ship back to Liverpool. On the ship she met and married a sailor - William Errington (my great grandfather).
I would be very grateful if anyone had any details of his fighting career, his death and/or his grave.
