Been quite a year for it in the boxing world hasn't it?
Tye Fields, Roman Greenberg and now Amir. Last year we only had Sprott v Harrison to sustain us.
I think it's healthy as it stirs up the hardcore fans and the casual fans receive the sudden shock of what they believe to be a monumental upset, the type of which no other sport will provide them with imo. This has to be healthy for the sport.
The way the hyped boxers are dismissed compares with the losers of fights by real fighters is very telling too. Hopefully the casual fans will see the way the three above have been treated by those who know the sport after their losses compared to Cotto, Katsidis and Diaz and realise why these are still respected after their first losses.

Yes, Schadenfreude is a very apt term for the general reaction to what has happened. And maybe those behind this PPV will learn that, if you try to rip off the fans, instant karma can be a bitch. Justice was meted out in brutal fashion last night.
