Become Khan's matchmaker!
Become Khan's matchmaker!
Here's the deal. You're Amir Khan's matchmaker and it's your responsibility to rebuild his career after his devastating loss to little known Columbian Breidis Prescott. Choose Amir's next 3 fights...
Re: Become Khan's matchmaker!
He won't have 3 more fights.

It'll be Liston v Patterson all over againclassboxer wrote:Prescot

Khan if he's very ultra cautious might JUST make it out of the first round to get knocked out in the second.
As soon as Prescott connects its all over. No way Warren will put Khan back in with Prescott, you must be joking.
Re: Become Khan's matchmaker!
If so it'll be back on the sponge-fisted featherweight bandwagon.
He's going to be extremely gunshy now (justifiably) and anybody with even half a dig will fancy their chances. Accordingly he's got to build up his confidence and the Khan product again. I'd be amazed if he meets anybody of Thaxton's class in the next three fights.
2 sub standard imports followed by Bobby Pacquaio, which at least would have a sellable angle of sorts, albeit akin to trying to sell a Julian Lennon PPV gig.
In short I think he's finished as a contender. I've compared him to Ryan Rhodes in the past, though I think actually he may end up as an Audleyesque joke.
At least A-Force got a gold.

If Amir loses to Prescott twice then his credibility is pretty much completely gone.classboxer wrote:its the perfect way to turn the situation around, win lose or draw, its the only option if Amir wants respectPunchy Joe wrote:

Get him moved up to 140lbs and see if his chin slightly improves without the weight draining.

You could say the same if he lost to thaxston in his next fight, even if he beats Thaxston he wont be anything other than a joke
Prescot is were the respect is,no doubt!
Re: Become Khan's matchmaker!
My take...
Move Khan up to Light Welterweight. Blame the Prescott knockout on weight issues. "Making the Lightweight limit was killing Khan".
Lee McAllister 26(5) - 1(0) - 0
former "World Champion" Gavin Rees 27(13) - 1(1) -0
Not sure about the 3rd fight. I haven't seen Lee McAllister fight so please let me know if he's too good.

Keep the Columbian theme going on that note, Torres would test if it's improvedDioufy wrote:Get him moved up to 140lbs and see if his chin slightly improves without the weight draining.

You could. That's why I wouldn't put him in with Thaxton. He needs a confidence building fight.classboxer wrote:You could say the same if he lost to thaxston in his next fight, even if he beats Thaxston he wont be anything other than a jokeAsterix wrote: If Amir loses to Prescott twice then his credibility is pretty much completely gone.

Re: Become Khan's matchmaker!
Umm take him up to Light Welter and get him a non=televised fight against and experienced but not super record fighter, one local lad I can think of is the likes of James Gorman, or Billy Walsh, possibly even Gary Hamilton (Euro, World champion Kickboxer) does box too.Asterix wrote:Here's the deal. Then a second fight televised on ITV this time for the masses to try and rebuild the fan base, but this time a nice hand picked opponent possibly a real lightweight with a reasonible record, (hard to say who exactly as I can't see him doing this for another 12 months) possibly John Fewkes or John Thaxton in 18mnths.
The third fight you would like to be against Presscot but depending on where Presscot goes now Win the next 5 and grow in the division or lose the next 5 and never be seen again. If Presscot stays at9st9 then I would avoid him and try not to have to fight him again, put a nice PR spin on it. Third fight then if you are still assuming Khan wins the first two needs to be a proper ranked Lightwelter weight boxer but possibly bringing the weight up to Welter now to suit Khan more. For this bout, M'Baye, Laurai or possibly an ageing Branco.
The other option is to fire him in on the 2nd or 3rd bout against Frankie Gavin if he turns Pro in 6mnths, though that depends who you really want to grow as a boxer and if Gavin goes Pro and signs with Warren or an other promoter.
Just my thoughts.

Prescot is a confidence building fight and i will tell you this for a fact if Khan cant beat Prescot he should retireAsterix wrote:classboxer wrote:

Khan would be stronger at lightwelteweight,so make the match there and if the fight does not happen that is cowardice on Khans part, the ball is in Amirs court,if Khan wants the respect of the UK public let him earn it by fighting Prescot again, its the only way

Time will tell if Amir has the GUTS to do this
a sodding rematch after that.
definitely someone like john fewkes up next.
someone without a punch who he can sort out without too much problem.
and then maybe a crack at the british against murray.
problem is both those guys are with hennessy and warren will wanna do it on his own.

wasnt the Drilzane fight were Amir tripped over the ropes and touched down ?<i dont remember Amir struggling with this guyboxrec wrote:
Khan struggled to beat Drilzane at light welter (and was knocked down too). I seriously doubt it'd be any easier in the light welter division. Also good old Hatton is around!
still Khans punch reistance is scarey bad, maybe he should retire i dont know but if Amir wants to carry on he cant be running from the likes of Prescot,i dont respect that,if Amir wants to earn respect he better well earn it from now on.
Prescot is perfect,if Amir wants to make people laugh on the other side of their face,a rematch with Prescot is the one and only option

Khan won every round in that fight IMOboxrec wrote:
The fight went the distance, after the match everyone questioned Amirs defence (and his hands dropping). And Khan definitely went down, and claimed it was a slip/flash knockdown (like he usually does. Unconvincing against a poor soft hitting Light-welterweight.

Re: Become Khan's matchmaker!
What's the logic in saying Khan shouldn't risk losing to Murray and, yet, recommending he fight somebody who has just starched him in 50 seconds and, by the looks of things, is an infinitely bigger puncher than Murray? Yep, you'll say that he'd be taking on, and going for revenge, against the fighter who beat him, but that was a drubbing.classboxer wrote: why should Amir risk losing to Murray ?

Whatever, my money is on Khan losing to either Prescott or Murray.
