Has anyone heard how many buys there were for Khan

Sorry if this has already been discussed but there are like a million comments on the fight so hard to go through all of them.

Anyways has anyone heard how many buys i read somewhere (i am guessing on here) that he needed 250,000 buys to make a profit

It usually takes a fair while to get the figures back and then they're not forthcoming in releasing them to the public if it's done shit!!

100,000 probably would have sufficed to make everyone involved a tidy profit as 250,000 would be very good ppv numbers even for a card worthy of ppv. My guess is they would have got about 70,000.

Sky is unable to provide figures until all its set top boxes have returned data to its headquarters and Virgin Media discloses how many people were watching the fight. Ricky Hatton's defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr last year brought in 1.2m Sky Box Office viewers, paying £18m. Around 100,000 would be judged a success for Khan. But it remains to be seen whether his management and Warren were guilty of expecting too much too soon from the paying public, as well as their charge.

You seem to know a lot about this stuff, Emerson. Sky told me that Hatton-Mayweather did 1.25 million. There might be reasons I was told that, but it did seem genuine.

I know someone through my ex at a "generic satellite broadcaster" that is involved with the purchasing of sports events. It's geeky, but boxing economics fascinate me as I wanted to be in TV production when I was a kid.

No-one will know how many buys there were for months, due to the tech involved with set-top boxes. However, I've seen and heard few things and it does not look good at all...

I cannot imagine it did well at all, I bought it only because my mate agreed to pay for it, as I refused, and I'm a bloody boxing fan. Your average joe isn't going to stay in and hand over 15 quid to watch a non title fight.

My first thoughts were that it couldnt of done well. But being my friends resident boxing fan i have been shocked at how many have felt the need to tell me they bought it on sat and expected me to be impressed by this. They arent even boxing fans so god knows how many people actually bought this out of interest.

Yeah 15 quid is a lot out of principle to pay as didnt agree with the ppv card but in reality most people would throw away 15 quid out of interest it is not exactly a lot of money.

True mate, and despite everything I bet it was at the latter stages of their love affair that Hatton got this on a Wazza promotion.
If the figure's true, then this smacks of a panic deal on Wazza's part which is so unlike him.
I get the feeling Wazza is losing his edge and is no longer in love with the sport. Maybe that's why he wanted Calzaghe to become a partner, and maybe take over ?

He appears to have waning influence here.
