Scott belshaw the bitter reality

Post by funso banjo baby »

Seems to be way too many excuses for scott....

the peret loss was awful....and now this recent showing against somekind of Pole

floored by a nothing punch

scott seems to be one dimensional ..and not interested in the game

what can we do about it ?

We? As in us?

Feed him on chicken, potatos and oats and send him to the Russian training camp off Rocky, the one with that bridget nielsen character... the second most famous bridget in the movie world, behind "bridget the midget" of course.

I think Bridget Jones pushes both into second and third. The there's the one over troubled water of course.

As for Belshaw. He just needs to train hard, spar lots and listen. He may improve he may not. Not every 6-7 250 pound man can fight.

What can we do ?

Well Frank Maloney and FTMPress can stop dreaming up the most ridiculous press release statements, like he'd kill Rogie and Scott wants to fight Audley. Scott hasn't said any of the stuff that they have printed, Belshaw is a big lad but is still very much a child and needs to be treated carefully. Belshaw is n't the rip their head off type and does get worried about how people see him.

Belshaw needs to get back in the gym (Belfast) and work with a senior coach who knows exactly what he is talking about. at the same time belshaw needs to realise that a HW can be coached by a smaller man. Also the phrase "I'm not a feckin lightweight" doesn't wash in the gym, you keep your mouth shut, train hard and do as your told.

Scott needs to learn to box, he can throw the KO punches although they go out raw they do the job wjhen they land, but i would agree that he needs to learn more to stop being so one dimensional. Get his head down stop the weights, work on speed and accuracy, get a decent sparring partner that isnt trying to kill you everytime you get in the ring, someone that will help you and work with you. Belshaw seems to get to spar people that just want to try and put him on his arse, I think he would benefit greatly from a good sparring partner, even a good HW Ama fighter would be good as their hand speed may be good to work with.

Belshaw needs to decide if he wants to keep boxing and if so he needs to start over again from scratch and get his head down working with ALIO!!!! and listening to what he is told, there are too many people telling the guy a lot of lies and to be perfectly honest the truth hurts Scott. Someone told you months ago, what you are being told by everyone now, and wasnt I the worst in the world. There is such a thing as constructive critism, most of us are here to try and help.

Get back to Belfast back home to the family and get your finger out and start slowly, don't expect to be a world champ in a week or be mixing it with Audley. start slowly and worl slowly learn the gaem, learn to box, to work your way in, throw more than 3 punches, learn to adapt and overcome.

So I take it the tag 'the white George Foreman' was a little premature :o

A trainer who can settle him down and get him boxing and moving off the jab is a must for me. Let the natural power flow rather than forcing the KO.

he dsnt seem to have any natural stuff to work with...u could pull any 6ft7 lug from a club door and get a better result with the chance scott's had.

In Scott's defense the above is bollox. Scott hasn't had any extra special chances, unless you count 3 weeks with Brian Lawrence a super chance. Not every 6ft7" lug as you put it has the power that Belshaw has, or the balls to get into the ring. Granted Belshaws dont seem to be too big when he's in the ring either.

Scott has been continually been setup for a fall, "the white foreman" probably being the first in a long line of Maloney half tought out comments and press releases. you can't tell people that Belshaw is this hard as nails fella when he isnt and if people speak to him they all seem to find him very pleaseant and quite gentle, he never has a bad word against anyone but me lol.

Lets see if the guy returns to the ring and what happens next

Billy, you were offered a dig against Scott a few month back but were out of training and wanted more money than Belfast Promotions were offering. If your interested in sparrig PM me you price etc any we might be able to talk, IF you get in shape, there is no point me payiong you to spar when your not ring fight etc, you know the score I have been more than honest with you. I'll not ofer cash to you for an xmas payday.

Belshaws next fight needs to be a serious fight and a bit of a comeback he needs to show off his skills (he needs time to learn them first). billy tour not a Delroy Spencer or Peter Dunne and they fight for les than you and they are in shape and come to win. By fighting you for a win what good would it do Belshaw ? his next fight needs to be in Belfast non televised and against a decent opponent that will take him over 8rnds etc but he needs to win every round. No offence but your in shape out of shape and back in again when you need a few quid, someone taking a dive is no good for Scott.

PS/ I like the both of you but this fight doesnt help anyone but you and your xmas fund.

Get off the Guinness mate, 'Belshaw' and 'skills' don't belong in the same sentence

Maybe not now, but if you read the sentence that you quoted it does state he needs to learn the skills first, before he can display them.

If people can back up what they are saying with constructive ideas / sensible reasoning, I'm all for them getting their point across. Just stating that someone is "crap" or "can't box" without any real reasoning or point to backup/validate their point is a waste of type.

Yeah, I think you might be right. There is also the punch up outside the club issue resulting in the death os Scott's good friend. I think this still plays on his mind a little. Lets see what he does over the next few weeks/months, hopefully he will get back to Belfast and start to listen (and grow up to a point as well, still a big kid at heart ) and train hard and put this spell behind him.

I wish the lad well. And to answer John Swan's point, if I was under the "big mouth" banner, I believe I did offer a substantiated perspective on his recent performances.

I was there when he fought Peret in the return and felt qualified, ok maybe not qualified, but certainly informed enough to pass comment.

It wasn't meant maliciously.

He's obviously a loveable lug. But he lacked a lot of things in the fight I saw.
