Ranee Ganoy v Julio Diaz is back on...

Post by perfect jet »

IBF lightweight #2 eliminator in New Mexico on Oct 31.

Not signed yet, but the IBF have given approval. Should be confirmed next week some time when both parties have signed.

It will be televised on US spanish tv network Telefutura.

Ganoy was originally slated to fight Diaz on the Dubai card that went bust...then Diaz was fighting Ray Narh for the #2 spot but Narh pulled out.

So Ganoy gets his chance again.

good for him. hope it comes through. no doubt he has the power to trouble most.if the rest of his package has improved then perhaps an upset9as i would imagine he would be a fairly significant underdog). Go Ganoy :box: :box: :box:

Last I heard Ranee was heading to Melbourne a week or so back to give Gostelow some sparring for his fight against Nakbalee on October 5. I heard that he was going to fight Julio Diaz but did not expect it to be so soon.

Interesting.

So far there is no card on the schedule for New Mexico on October 31. Are you sure you have the date right?

Sadly, it looks like Julio has gone in another direction. We are waiting for confirmation but it looks almost certainly that Ganoy v Diaz has snagged yet again.

He may be having problems with his promoter Sycuan as they went silent when it came to signing contracts for the fight. I wouldn't be surprised if he is bailing on them.

Strange, considering he is passing up an IBF #2 spot for a 10 rounder against Fernando Trejo. Hmm...not sure where he is heading with all this.

Will know more early next week.

The date was right but Sycuan Promotions didn't respond to Lewcowicz when it came time to signing contracts. The other option opened to us was to do the fight in Sth Africa in mid November but if Diaz has gone and signed for soemone else then it puts paid to that.

It's all very blurred at the moment.

A rematch with Katsidis would be good, If they did it in the US Ganoy would definently get a name for himself even if he loses.

Agree.

But if Katsidis repeats the result, i think the US would consider it a stay busy fight.

I suppose so, But then again Ranee has beaten a few decent fighters since his loss to Katsidis. And the fight would be a war.

Given that Katsidis is with Goldenboy, the chances of a rematch are almost zero. lol. Besides, Ranee is a hard sell in the US at this point. He needs a break through fight before he will get attention. kats will surely go for the best paydays as long as HBO want to use him. I've heard a whisper that a softer touch in Jesus Chavez may be his next opponent.

Oscar has a monopoly on the lightweight division and keeps his fighters in house. Like a round robin tournament. Just look at Nate Campbell...he has three belts yet can't get a look in.

Funny how Juan Diaz (newly aquired GBP fighter) after defeating Katsidis, called out every main player at 135 EXCEPT the only guy to beat him, Nate Campbell.

Now Nate is a free agent, he may end up joining them. lol
