How good is it to NOT see him on tv?

When he was on Setanta for a bit they showed him this is NOT your show!

I love it!

I remember him saying how Khan was the best lightweight in the world following his win over Earl. Overstatement or what?

Upmost respect for him as a fighter but his "analysis" leaves a lot to be desired. I remember tuning into ITV one night and thinking the fight had been replaced with the Chuckle Brothers but then I realised it was Jim and Barry.

Barry says whatever the person paying him tells him to say!

I forget the fiht but it was a PPV and before the fight Bary was saying 'this will be a tough fight for whoever was fighting and he needs to be careful'

AFTER the fight he said ' I always knew it would be a blowout'

im gonna jump on the band wagon here...........

i used to like Barry, i thought he was a genuine boxer, yes i still do he did his stuff in the ring and im sure he reunited various people across ireland.

I remember going to see Barry at a question and answer session with Paul Ingle. thats the first time i saw Barry and i was in awe of him, i even put my hand on his shoulder because i was a fan and in awe of this boxer.

some time before when he started up the boxers union i wrote to him asking for a job, and he duely wrote back telling me if it took of the ground get in touch with him.

Anyway, i cant remember the exact fight but McGuigan said something that he had contradicted earlier in a interview on TV, I emailed him to ask why he said what he had said. I could not believe the reply, he went off on one and basically told me to F off.

After that my opinion of him went down hill, and as have lots of people on here have said before he does contradict himself on occasions, but he does not like it when people like me who at the end of the day are only boxing fans ask him why he said what he said.

i think some 'pundits' build up a fighter and talk crap just to get the public to watch, maybe its in their contract that they have to hype up a boxer and not say bad things, even if they do know they are a shower of shite, may be the promotor who has a deal with SKY TV stipulates that the commentator or pundit is not allowed to say how they really feel, and they forget this and contradict what they say.

The only commentator i respect is Harry Carpenter. 'GET IN THERE FRANK'

Barry was a bit guilty of being a yes man in Warren fights, but I have liked him in his stints in the US, Setanta and also for Khan's last fight on ITV... thought he was brutally honest there.

I hope he is still on board at ITV with Hennessey - I think he will be far less bias
