Jamie Moore EBU Title
Jamie Moore EBU Title
FTM PRESS RELEASE
JAMIE MOORE will now fight for the vacant European light-middleweight title after Zaurbek Baysangurov dramatically gave up the title.
Purse bids for their showdown were due to be opened in Rome this morning, but just minutes before the Russian ducked out of fighting Jamie.
Salford's Moore will now face the next available contender and his team expect that to be Italy's former IBF welterweight and European light-middleweight champion Michele Piccirillo.
Promoter Frank Maloney said: "We were confident of winning the purse bids, but Baysangurov was not confident of coming to England.
"Jamie was more than willing to go to Germany or Russia. That shows his fighting heart.
"We are now waiting for the EBU to name the next contender in rankings and we will enter a short period of private negotiations before the fight goes to purse offers.
"I'm confident that Jamie will get his chance in England, hopefully before the end of November."

Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
Thank God Baysangurov dropped the belt. Now Jamie might get to fight for this title before the end of the year.
Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
It's probably more about the name than the title now for Jamie and Piccirillo's a decent name. Good news at last.
Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
Praise the Lord! Roll on November 22nd.

Pryce is ranked #5. Rhodes is #12 and Small #19. Facey and McDonagh are #16 and #17 I think.
Dzuman is about the only other name I recognised.

UK end of a PPV package ?
Still prefer to be there in honesty.
Wit and see then who the EBU put forward and whether a deal can be done without resorting to purse bids again.

That's the rumour boyo.
Hopefully the date will be confirmed in a few weeks so I can sort me flight.
J-Mo deserves some luck.
Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
If it's Piccirillo I can't see him being a willing traveler, I hope not but can see Jamie being messed around again
Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
Appears to be some good news at last for Moore. A good title, a good name and should Jamie win a world title shot could be in offering.

Great news, hpe Mooresy smashing whoever it is to bits. Can take out his frustration on them.
This is fully deserved.

Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
Baysangurov's been disappointing in his attitude to this fight. Pulling out twice, then giving the belt up.
Would have been one of those great fights.
Piccirillo's a bore. I hope he doesn't spoil. I wonder, if Maloney wins purse bids (if a deal can't be made), will Piccirillo pull out, so he can somehow get it rescheduled in Italy? Fighters from Europe really piss about if they have an upcoming fight that's hard or away from home.
Sad really, because Baysangurov was a hot prospect and would have been good to enhance Moore's international reputation.

Piccirillo only fights abroad when he has no choice ie. Mayorga, Forrest fights. I can see Jamie getting fvcked around big time here.

DG is the God - G is the 7th Letter made! - Just joking!

It's like going back to 1998.
There are better free blogs around that site.

Would not surprise me to see him look for the dq, these Italians have a built in 'I have been fouled' chip!

I understand especially with the Credit Crunch - maybe the Russian does not need not to work? Surely he is not a coward?
He is a fighter...allegedly!
DG will reach a compromise with you. Just give a shout out to DG The God of Boxrec
Also keep the body shots in the region of Piccalli's chest because anything lower than that and he will call foul.
Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
Hopefully Piccolo cooperates, turns up and gets a body beating.
Re: Jamie Moore EBU Title
Piccirillo is a very skilled boxer. One of the best Italians out there. I haven't seen tons of his fights but whenever I have, he's pretty decent to watch. Put in a perfectly timed performance against Michael Jones, who was on form that night.
