IS THE RANKINGS SYSTEM BROKEN?

Post by yanoboxing »

I know boxrec has weird rankings but guys who didnt fight this weekend are shifting all over the place randomly today. Issac Hlatshwayo moves above Clottey and Berto at welterweight? Courtney Fry, who is 12-1 with an extremly soft record randomly moves up 16 spots by beating an 8-22 fighter a few weeks ago?

Guys are moving all over the place without even fighting or having a fighter who won or lost recently effect their moves for the most part.

maybe somebody can explain this without just sending me a link to your ratings explination page because this makes no sense

New release in place:

1.) Promoter home advantage is implemented - matching with the results in Journal of Sports Sciences:

2.) Better adaption of former inactive boxers returning successfully (see Vitali Klitschko)

3.) Time depending table (by decades) regarding the typical weight of the heavyweight boxers - used for division move adaption of the ratings.

#1 is the biggie. It attempts to neutralize the hometown advantage...

i dont care what this says theres NO jusitification for having hlatshwayo above two current world champions that would destroy hlatshwayo and theres no jusitifacion for ranking courtney "french" fry and his 12-1 padded record julio cesar gonzalez, bebit shumenov, chris henry, yusef mack, silvio branco, and Jaffa Ballogou among others.

You can give me any type of crazy math formula about how this person beat this person in their hometown by split decision technical decision tko whatever but there is ZERO explination for the rankings I noted above.

To be honest, I don't support the home advantage either...
