did a search but couldn't find any thread on this book and was wondering if anyone else on boxrec read "the last great fight" by joe layden. book came out last year. just shy of 300 well researched pages centering-in on the the douglas-tyson fight. very even handed look at how both these guys came together for their unforgetable bout. layden seems to have interviewed everyone involved.
great read and a real page-turner, especially as you get closer to fight-time.

I'll bet that book is damn good. Buster and Tyson, wow. I'm interested in that book, "Heavyweight Armageddon," about Tyson-Lennox Lewis, as well. Probably both interesting.

Re: boxing book: the last great fight (tyson-douglas)
i read alot of boxing books and this is one of the best. it is so detailed in dealing with the lead-up and actual tyson-douglas fight, you feel almost let down after. of course the book deals with the aftermath of the bout and where tyson and douglas' lives went; but the other bouts mentioned like tyson-holyfield etc just get normal treatment. otherwise the book would be 800 pages and would never get published. it makes me re-appreciate that this fight took place during my life time. and it wasn't just "tyson was out of shape" or "douglas got lucky" like a lot of revisionists would have you believe.

I saw this at Borders in Adelaide, I was tempted to buy it but at
$60 I thought I would order of the net at a later date. I am
glad it is worth the read though.
