Who has the most padded record in Australia.
Who has the most padded record in Australia.
With Australians fast becoming renowned as boxers with padded records, who is or are the Australians who make people pay to watch them spar.
With evidence of Jamie Pittman being destroyed by sturm, and Dibb flying home to fight imported punching bags before his contoversial win over Marali and then his lost to Leveano, who is next to walk into realitys right hook.
If you were to take a peek in Hussys gym you could write a book on the amount of boxers he has in his stable, that are well into thier careers and are still fighting people with a 2-1-3 records, nothing is learnt from these fights, and fans feel deprived of a good matchup as these guys ask for $50 - $70 bucks general admission, or $1500 - $2000 for a table, and worst of all the guys out of this gym cant even put the likes of these novice fighters away.
If you look into other gyms as well, the same fighters on the same card continuosly fighting Thai, reject philapinos and indonesians that haven't won this decade. If i'm being too harsh go to schedule in the home page click on destination and put Australia in, the cards for the rest of the year are absolutly shit, with the exception of Zappa v Browne.
Boxing is a business and this is well stated, so i say if Australian Boxing was to appear on the stock market what price would you get for a share.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
Good to see Danial Inazzo fighting someone with a winning record for the first time.
Heath looks like he's going to fight another 8 ex kickboxers before being found out Again.
And my tip for people is Luke Maloney will finally get his first KO victory...... Lucky 15 for some.
The level these fighters are pushing them self to, is astounding, sitting ducks for the next mediocre German champ to handpick for a world title.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
Oh this is my favorite card, Mohamad Elomar recently turned down rising star Lenny Zappavigna 16(12) -0, to fight the more imposing and more experienced Ernie Gonzales Jr 4 (3) - 2 (0) - 1, Elomar obviously wants to do his part for Australian boxing after recently being involved in 2 seperate and violent ring invasions which left a gapping hole in Australias bid to lure the more casual boxing fan to the troubled sport.
This season ending card is so similar to Geale V Dawson 07, i feel as though i've turned back the clock a year.
Surely Elomar is only a fight or two away from the big time, by then he could be 19-1, and with the experienced fighters he's been in with, is bound to trouble the current belt holders.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
These type of cards are why when the Evolution kickboxing was in town my company shelfed out 3 corperate tables at $2000+ a pop, instead of the Hopoate v Mirivic fight, and from recent memory it was the best show iv'e been to.
For fornicate sake do these promoters or trainers have a clue, or are we going to keep playing that card that it's hard to get international fighters to travel, or the fighters want too much money. Take ownership, you either cant put a decent card together or your squeezing the sport for every penny, or to put it simply your not the person for the job.
I could go through all the boxers in the world or even Australia and put together a good and exciting card every week, no need for 3 or 4 shit ones, cause thats whats fornicating the sport up here, if you have problems promoters, with your fighters getting in the ring with another good fighter, tell them to fuckoff and take up tickling, someone else will take thier place, if an international fighter wants more than the Australian fighter give him more money, because your usuall outcome for this is replacing him with Paz Veijo and the like....... guess what me and my mates laugh our ass's off when Paz fights ,works on his own swelling and dipenses his own water to himself while barking orders at his cornerman, it's good for laugh but that's all it is.
If people in the sport say i dont know what i'm talking about, it's not that easy, easier said than done or even have a crack at my knowllege of the sport thats fine... really.
But i would love the chance to show people my experience in running a business and how 1 good card a week will make you 20 times the amount of money your currently making than the four shit cards they put together and the pennys they count at the end of a disappointed week for all.
I'm a massive fan of the sport, and love Australian fighters and want to see them succeed, but at the moment this business(boxing) is selling a faulty product to a bunch of dissatified customers and honestly it's heart breaking....... fornicating heart breaking.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
Totally agree the cards that they put on are a joke....his boxers only fight bums, and when they do step up in class they get shown up big time.If you were to take a peek in Hussys gym you could write a book on the amount of boxers he has in his stable, that are well into thier careers and are still fighting people with a 2-1-3 records, nothing is learnt from these fights, and fans feel deprived of a good matchup as these guys ask for $50 - $70 bucks general admission, or $1500 - $2000 for a table, and worst of all the guys out of this gym cant even put the likes of these novice fighters away.
How many legit world champ's fight out of Hussys gym?
Compare that to a number of boxers around - Craig Christians boxers, Saikio Bika (he has the balls to fly around the world and fight anyone), Tommy Browne, St Claire (prepared to fight the best on short notice), Big Bob has the balls to jump in the ring with anyone....
Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
mate, i agree there is too many padded records in oz
i understand it can be very hard to get overseas fighters to come here , to get decent overseas fighters here anyway,
but there is no excuse for not fighting fellow australian fighters, in and around their weight division, i mean there is some depth in a few oz divisions nowadays, and obviously if a fighter can clean out the division in their home country, its gonna put them in much better stead to take on the world
but i also think this is a problem in boxing everywhere, not just oz ,people worry about the 0 on their record too much, and dont wanna take the risk of having a few losses on their resume
if they get a few losses, its like their career is over, where as in other combat sports the best fight the best, losses dont mean as much ,and thats why boxing is slipping behind all over the world, that and there is too many boxing commissions

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
Hard to disagree with most of what's been said in this thread.
Having said that, I can also see the challanges/difficulties associated with putting on a good card at the right price (it is a business and the promoter is entitled to make a quit as well as the fighters).
There certainly are a lot of Aussie fighters in the same weight divisions who seemed destined never to meet each other or a quality import.
If we expect more media, FTA coverage etc, we need to improve the product being dished up.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. (At least to an extent) boxing promotors need to look at organisations like UFC/K-1. How many times has Jerome LeBanner and Ernesto Hoost fought over the years? arguably the two best K1 fighters out there (during their primes) and they fought each other probably 4-6times. Look at the current UFC and a fighter like Georges St Pierre - he's fought Matt Hughes x2, Matt Serra x 2, Jon Fitch and upcoming BJ Penn - which if you don't follow the sport are four of the best welterweight MMA fighters in the world. (To compare, sort of, to boxing it's like fighting Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Felix Trinidad, etc while everyone's in their prime - more or less, back to back).
Boxing, both here and abroad, needs to start doing this. Sure, you fight your first 10 or so fights against chumps, but you increase the quality of your opposition and fight to YOUR SKILL LEVEL.
And as stated above, boxing needs to rid itself of the stigma of a 0 loss column. To show MMA again, Randy Couture, one of the best ever has a 16-9 record. Wanderlei Silva, another one, has something like a 30-7 record. It should be the quality of your opposition, not the record.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
If you think some Australian boxers have padded records, look at that of American Tyrone Brunson.
This was a man who ran up an incredible list of first round KOs by fighting a list of men who had never fought or had more losses than wins. Not all the shit happens here.

Same scenario as Couture applies to Stan the Man, John Wayne Parr (as a boxer) etc. Lose a few and move on.

Mohammed and Lenny were never going to fight, They are mates and train in the same gym. Billy Hussien sent me a message after someone anounced they were fighting and said it isnt happening as he Trains/Manages both of them.Hounddog wrote:Oh this is my favorite card, Mohamad Elomar recently turned down rising star Lenny Zappavigna 16(12) -0, to fight the more imposing and more experienced Ernie Gonzales Jr 4 (3) - 2 (0) - 1, Elomar obviously wants to do his part for Australian boxing after recently being involved in 2 seperate and violent ring invasions which left a gapping hole in Australias bid to lure the more casual boxing fan to the troubled sport.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
That is a problem. Jimmy Ellis was Muhammad Ali's best friend and they were both trained by Angelo Dundee. Ali defended his World Heavyweight title against Ellis because he thought Jimmy deserved a shot.
In Professional boxing you have to be prepared to fight your friends. It is a man to man professional sport. Friendship is fine outside the ring, but not in it.
For anybody who did not know, Angelo Dundee was in Jimmy Ellis's corner. It had no effect on the fighter/boxer relationship between him and Ali.

Seems Zappa doesn't mind fighting his mates, his next opponent is a guy he looked up to Tommy Browne.Brute wrote:That is a problem. crikey this is tricky
Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
^^ no it's not. let me walk you through it.
1) You are going to come back after finally thinking of somerthing you believe is 'witty' to post.
2) You will then make a post in which you manage to encompass being inflammatory, predictable and pretty much stupid all in one go.
3) A few of us, who take this forum moderately seriously, will take a level of offence and reply in some manner
4) you will have got the attention that you crave.
If it doesn't go like this then it is the first time your MO will have not been followed on this forum.
In the end you have added nothing, other than to bolster your post numbers, and who wants that

I'm a massive fan of the sport, and love Australian fighters and want to see them succeed, but at the moment this business(boxing) is selling a faulty product to a bunch of dissatified customers and honestly it's heart breaking....... effing heart breaking.
You say you "But i would love the chance to show people my experience in running a business and how 1 good card a week will make you 20 times the amount of money your currently making than the four shit cards they put together and the pennys they count at the end of a disappointed week for all"

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
Some of the promoters do not help. What genius got the idea of having Bob Gasio fight Dominic Vea for the OPBF Cruiserweight title when Gasio was 221 pounds in a fight 13 days before the title fight? He finished up going into the ring at 207 and quit after 3 rounds.
Ridiculous.
Ridiculous.

It's not just a case of 1 card it's the consistancy of the cards throughout the year.Ross wrote:Hounddog wrote:These type of cards are why when the Evolution kickboxing was in town my company shelfed out 3 corperate tables at $2000+ a pop, instead of the Hopoate v Mirivic fight, and from recent memory it was the best show iv'e been to.
For eff sake do these promoters or trainers have a clue, or are we going to keep playing that card that it's hard to get international fighters to travel, or the fighters want too much money. Take ownership, you either cant put a decent card together or your squeezing the sport for every penny, or to put it simply your not the person for the job.
I could go through all the boxers in the world or even Australia and put together a good and exciting card every week, no need for 3 or 4 shit ones, cause thats whats effing the sport up here, if you have problems promoters, with your fighters getting in the ring with another good fighter, tell them to fuckoff and take up tickling, someone else will take thier place, if an international fighter wants more than the Australian fighter give him more money, because your usuall outcome for this is replacing him with Paz Veijo and the like....... guess what me and my mates laugh our ass's off when Paz fights ,works on his own swelling and dipenses his own water to himself while barking orders at his cornerman, it's good for laugh but that's all it is.

If you search for the threads i've started you will come across a few international cards i proposed like an ashes series to be held yearly, an Australia v Asia, Australia v Pacific nations ect. Just some ideas to get boxing back on TV and interest to the casual boxing fan.
I will come up with a few new cards soon.
Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
What we need is the best fighters getting to actually fight on TV, Not firt timers and midgets actuall decent solid pro's. There are fight cards on every few weeks that are better trhan half the Fox fight nights and thats the truth.
Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
it has been like this for years, and as a result I now have zero interest in the Australian game.
absolutely mind boggling why anybody even cares about 90% of these guys. I simply do not care. I follow boxing all round the world, if aussie like vic fight real opponents I support them, the rest dont exist to me.
I used to get upset, now I have no emotion.

Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
well......did we eventually work out WHO has the most padded record in Australia as the topic asked or did we just agree that the cards that they continually serve up to us are just crap??
Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
i jokingly posted in another thread about william hadlow being the "hardcore fighter" out there, as that is his knickname. i got shouted down (again) by guys saying " have a look at his record". well i have seen "hardcore" fight a few times and its always been a contest and he fights anyone, anytime, anywhere and usually steps in at the last minute. can we say that Mundine(shock-horror) might have the most padded record in Australia but we all have him in our top ten P4P????
Re: Who has the most padded record in Australia.
^^^ In all fairness i have said he is less than hardcore but you got to give Hadlow props for his heart.
My candidates for most padded.
Mohammad Elomar, In his 19 fights since turning pro in mid 04 his only fight stepping up has been against Matt Powell x2 first contest NC, 2nd contest Elomar disqualified, He enters his 20th fight against Ernie Gonzalas who's record is very inexperienced, when there is good tests waiting in his division.
Peter Kazzi, since turning pro in early 05 biggest win was against a inexperienced Daniel Mckinnon in his pro debut, since then he has fought exclusively under Mundines cards, against imports that are either that far gone that if big a gust of wind blows by his opponents fall over.
Kazzi' record now stands 12-1 and is 32 years old.
Now i cant go on without mentioning a man who has made a career out of padding his record in order to get title shots, and no it's not mundine.
Shannon Taylor has had 57 fights in his carreer and has been in the ring with the best at times Mosely and Abraham to find out that all the fights before hand were just formalitys, carefully handpicked opponents in order to get a shot at the crown for which on both occasions ended badly for Taylor. His last 7 or 8 fights are testiments to how shannon carefully handpicks his opponents for his win column to climb the rankings in his bid for a shot at the title.
What are peoples thoughts.
