So many questions for this match.... will Pacquiao be able to take the power, if yes will his superior fitness be a telling factor.

Also, DLH's age is a factor - he was stunned by Mayweather and I even think light punching Steve Forbes earnt his respect. His punch resistance doesn't seem what it was..... could Pacquiao's sharpness surprise him.

I'm with Angelo Dundee here who suggested that the size isn't such a huge deal and he master minded a few good small un's to beat a good big uns.

Roy Jones hit and hurt John Ruiz more than the likes of Holyfield and Rahman did. Its the punches you don't see that hurts you, and Pacquiao has that sort of handspeed that I think he could stun DLH.

Ultimately, I think Pacquiao's own defensive (not chin) problems will be exposed, DLH isn't slow and I think he will be winning the fight and stop Pacquiao around 6-8. I aint overly confident with the pick I must say.

Superheavyweight wrote:The size difference isn’t that bad, forget where he started, Pacman is a natural Lightweight and in reality Oscar only has 3 inches in height and 6 inches in reach advantage.

Pacman is an underrated ‘boxer’ and Oscar will only have about 12 lbs weight advantage come fight night.

Mosley did it.

Oscar SD 12
Actually doesn't Oscar have 5inches in height? Oscar in a close 7-5, the jab will do it for him. I hope Pacquaio's speed and conditioning takes him out late though and does the sport a service by finally getting rid of him

Oscar being on weight 2 weeks before the fight is a big swaying point for me. Beforehand I gave Manny a chance. DLH UD.

Well considering Pacquiao hasn't looked close to going down since after he stopped draining himself (and I aint counting the spurious KD in the first Barrera fight) then of course someone can say it is possible he could take the power at 147.

He looked like a piece of steal in the David Diaz fight.

DLH looked lost at times vs Forbes and theres no way he's a patch on Pacs skills. This is no walkover as some suggest. Pac Man UD :box:

We're not talking about them, we're talking about Pacquiao, and he's done more than enough to earn our respect.

He's p4p number one IMO, and he seems confident. If he can weather the first 3/4 rounds I think he'll do Oscar on workrate, I'll bet his output is almost double Oscar's if it reaches the 12th.

ODLH on points. Pacquiao earns respect in defeat. Not because he deserves the decision, or boxes well in spells, but because he proves even more what a tough little bugger he is.

:o I really disagree with that. Don't rate Pacquiao's skills as a hit and don't get boxer very highly. He looked lost at times in his fights with Marquez(I had Marquez winning both) - my theory is although Marquez is a great boxer, if Marquez can give Pacman so much trouble, DLH can ko him. De la Hoya has better fundamentals than Pacquiao IMO - his punches are shorter. Pacquiao can be a bit wild at times.

DLH TKO6

(And by the by I'm actually rooting for the Pacman as a Pacman win is better for boxing but heart says Pacquiao, head says DLH.)

Pac gets outboxed by timed counter punching like what Maruez did to him twice and got robbed twice!

Pac Is mostly fast and hits hard but DLH has an Iron jaw.

DLH's not looked good for about 5 years, is a former 130-pounder and a part-time fighter. Pacman might have the size disadvantage, but has the all-important ability advantage. Pacman UD.

DLH KO5

Pac is too small and as someone pointed out above he was out on his feet against JMM when he was given time out for a foul.

DLH will connect hard at some point and there will be too much weight behind the punches.

Don't forget Manny originally turned this down until they agreed to give him a huge purse (40% of the total I think).

Oscars superfights in the last 9 years consist of

Felix Trinidad - LOST
Shane Mosley - LOST
Shane Mosley - LOST
Bernard Hopkins - LOST
Floyd Mayweather Jr - LOST

I see DLH been dry as a bone at 147 and Manny will look to go to the body and expose this.

He won at least one of the fights with Mosley and beat Felix IMO.

KO by Pacquaio? Based on what? The only man to stop him was Hopkins, a fully blown middle now fighting at light heavy.

Pac lost to marquez twice IMO.
It took pac a good amopunt of blows to kill off Diaz, he did not look so Domininat in terms of power.

Oscar looked crap against Forbes, was not impressed!

I cant see pacman winning by ko/tko. He wins by points thats if oscar performs less than 80 %!

oscar= tko late rounds or points win.

But ask yourself this mate, if was Pacquiao facing the above(all in their primes - as when Oscar fought them) would he have won any? But its interesting that so many people think Pacquiao will win.

Based on DLH struggling to make the weight, you have to remember he has never made 147lbs for 7 years, my thinking is Manny will target the body and if Oscar has had weight problems he could well be stopped from a body shot.

This is a mismatch. People are saying Oscar's not much bigger, but I think the reality is, he is.
DLH has a poor record in superfights, which is why he's picking on a much smaller guy this time round.
I reckon Manny is going to be shocked when he's hit for real by a solid Lightmiddleweight, which Oscar will be by fight night. Could be a bodyshot that gets him out of there.

Manny needs to box a near perfect fight for 12 rounds here, and I don't think he can. Oscar will walk him down.

Oscar TKO 6

Real question is........will DLH actualy make the weight??

Oscar is at least 3 weight classes bigger, the smallest weight class Oscar can fight in is 147 and hes been as high as 160, the smallest Pacman can fight in is 130 imo and the highest hes been is 135. If Angelo Dundee says size won't be an issue then hes talking BS

I think what Angelo meant - and I agree, that while a good big un will beat a good little un.... a great little un will beat a good big un.

Like in the Mayweather fight, it wasn't DLH's size that was the major factor in why he was so effective, but his spead and skills. Mayweather hadn't faced a fighter that quick.
