How big would Calzaghe/Haye be?

Post by JCS »

Hey Brits, if Calzaghe/Haye came to some type of agreement to fight at say.. 195 pounds, how big of a showdown would this be for you guys?

Before Haye had moved up to heavyweight maybe but Haye weighed in at 215lbs against Barrett and would thus have to weigh in 20lbs lighter to make 195. I do realise that he did this after the Bonin fight to go in against Mormeck but I would not want to see Haye go in at less than 100% against Calzaghe, even if it partially negates the natural size difference between the two.

A year ago I think it would have been bigger, but hhmmmmmm, i dunno, now that I think about it it would be kind of exciting

But as you said, how big WOULD it be. It ain't gonna happen....surely

Would be massive, but no chance whatsoever, Haye is way too big and strong for Joe. Be like Joe v Hatton

I'd pay quite a lot of money to see Haye vs Enzo calzaghe!

I think Haye hits too hard and Joes hands are too soft.

I don't think Joe would be doing that show boating with his hands down and chin out, that's for sure.

Yes, & Joe would be massively KO'd simple as that!

Who remembers Buncey talking about these two facing each other on Setanta, saying a catch-weight of something like 14st 10lbs lol!

Calzaghe is a LHW, no way he weighs 14st 10lbs, no even when he's out of shape!

Gotta love Buncey lol!

It's a circus fight and it'd be a formality. Calzaghe struggles to take on prime SM's and LH's never mid taking on 'The Gifted One'

It's never gonna happen and I'm happy about that. It'd be like putting on Hatton Vs Calzaghe

Nothing Like Hatton v Calzaghe.

Hatton would have to move up 5 Weight Divisions.

Calzaghe would have to move up one. But i see where you are coming from, since it took him 10 years to move up to LH from SMW  :TU:

what if haye fought hatton and khan at the same time.

haye can put on 5-10 more pounds and that should make it a pretty even fight.

Surely this belongs to the current scene. I don't mean in terms of topic but plain daftness.

Actually, if anyone is bored they should do a trawl of current scene threads and come up with a Top 20 of the most mental titles.

I would watch it. So would 20 million if it was on free TV.....

Now at the risk of this post turning into one of those ridiculous "Who would win - a gorrilla or a polar bear?" type threads.....

I think Khan would get Ko'd by the air coming from Haye's swings, then it would be a mismatch with Ricky. so I would expect a Haye KO 1.

I would only watch it to see Calzaghe get sparked.

Fight doesn't really turn me on.

Agreed. What a stupid post. And there are few going around about Joe at Cruiser. It wouldn't happen ever! I can't believe people are even posting topics on it.

To be fair I don't think anyone is posting seriously on here.

And yes, of course the cage makes the fight harder. Not sure why, but it must.

I'd prefer a spiked, moving, floor like in Flash Gordon.
