Best fight atmosphere

After watching the Cleverly fight last night and the lack atmosphere, it got me thinking as to what was the best fight atmosphere people have experienced, either in person or just watching from the tv.

For me it has to be Arthur-Gomez ( wish i was there!)

there was a good atmosphere prior to the cleverly fight it was just whoever done the fight order didnt use a brain, everyone there was only there to see the smith brothers after liams fight the place emptyed, they should have had paul fight last people in the cleverly camp wernt happy over it aswell

I've been to countless shows over the years, both home and abroad, but for me two stand out above all others.
30th September 1995 Naz v Robinson, and 11th October 1997 Full Monty Show at the Sheffield Arena.
The first was to witness a fighter going into the lions den and systematically dismantling his opponent.
The second was a 10 fight show the likes of which sadly Wazza doesn't put on any more.
Naz v Badillo, Calzaghe v Eubank, Rhodes v Epifantsev, Nelson v Wallyn, Ingle v Irwin plus 5 others that escape me now but involved Keaton, and Pele Reid amongst others.
Special atmosphere cos all the Ingle lads go their chance.
Great crowd, great bill.

I was at Tony Dowling vs Lee Swaby for the midlands area cruiserweight title in Newark Nottinghamshire a few years ago and because
it was a Lincoln derby the crowd was electric! It was pro Dowling and he did well for the first 4 rounds but Swaby got on top and stopped
him in the 9th. An excellent night though!

Hatton v Tzsyu was far and away the most electric sporting event i've ever been to. It was literally bouncing for the whole fight. On a smaller scale the atmosphere for Wayne Rigby v Gary Ryder on the undercard of a brodie fight in altrincham i think was class - great fight and split scouse/manc fans.

The atmosphere for Pickering V Hughes this year was very good- a comfy venue , suddenly filled to bursting. Just how live boxing should be.

ive not been to none of these 80's fights etc like some of you guys , im a little young for that but in all honesty i thought froch v pascal had a really good atmosphere , definately the best ive been to so far but admittedly id always watched on ppv etc until the last couple of yrs

Cotto v Margarito - Both sides brought a band that played traditional songs. Plus there was a friendly rivalry, refreshing when compared to UK fights, and we all took the piss out of Joe Cortez.

Cotto v Mosley live. You can't beat a MSG atmosphere, especially when it's full of Puerto Ricans.

Electric when Bernard Hopkins did his pantomime villan act (going back to Tito and the flag thing of course) right in the lions den before the fight. Brilliant.

You're right mate, the Sky producer doesn't give a toss about the spectators, just what it looks like on TV.

Best fight atmosphere I've seen was Gilmour promoting Kevin Anderson v Vladimir Borovski, non title at the Fife ice rink without TV, July 2005. 2000 people screaming the place down, also any Lee McAllister bill in Aberdeen, they go absolutely crazy for him.

Without a shadow of doubt, Benn vs McClellan 1995.

Funny thing was, there was word that it might not be a sell-out. But a sell-out it jolly well was. The vibe at the place was very much of that 95/96 BritPop have-it-LARGE feel.

All the faces were there, I met Lennox Lewis in the loos! Frank Bruno was ringside with an orange blazer on going mental.

As Benn started to get in the fight, the clapping and stamping in the crowd was just a buzz i've never experienced.

No-one knew, or cared, about the state GM was in at the end (mainly as GM was an utter pudendum http://observer.guardian.co.uk/osm/stor ... 41,00.html ). It was Benn '95, the 9/2 underdog, complete with trendy barb wire arm tattoo, giving it LARGE!

It was a -5 freezing night and the last train to Reading broke down. We had to get a cab from Ealing, and we managed to claim back the £50 from BR.

Oh, and my mate lost his false teeth as we were celebrating.

I watched that on the telly and it's the best fight I have ever seen. The atmosphere was electric in my living room with only two of us in there!!

Benn-McClellan was fornicating mental. It was like every last person in the arena (including Benn and McClellan!) were high on PCP and cocaine, other than Lennox Lewis and Henry Cooper who were in a state of utter shock at ringside.

When the chimes of Big Ben blared out, my ears started ringing and I swear the roof was lifting. Then I crank my neck around on the tips of my toes and I see Nigel Benn with dreadlocks through some smoke down the ramp, bobbing his head about, looking mental.

yes i was there, in burton on trent, loads of hughes supporters, passionate but not nasty, some vocal fat slags in the audience too, is ponty full of viz lookalikes? ......

My uncle was at Benn v McClellan and he said he'd never experienced an atmosphere like that before or after that fight.

Although I'd expect there was a rocking crowd at Bruno v McCall?

There's Only 1 Ricky Hatton set the hair on the back of my neck straight up during the PBF Floyd fight watching on TV. That was the most amazing fight atmosphere I've ever seen.

Dunne vs. Wilders was a cracking atmosphere and a good card of fights.

The reception that Henry Castle and Gareth Couch got after their fight was good too, everyone that bothered to watch it knew they had seen a brilliant fight.
