Good match, no reason why it can't happen, ask your promoter to get a final eliminator so as to force it through.

Hiya Tony mate, I thought you were supposed to box David a couple of times for his English. What happened to that?

Welcome aboard Tony.

It should be a good competitive fight. I'm sure Dave Coldwell can have a word with Dennis Hobson and sort something out. Drop him a line.

Hello Mate,

Tony v Brian has nothing to do with Dennis - there is no reason why this fight cannot take place - I am told there is a very good chance of it happening all it needs is the agreement of Team Magee!!!

and considering Dodson is with Hayemaker wouldn't it be perfect to have it on the March 7th bill in Belfast promoted by Hayemaker, Magee would be able to defend his title at home then too.

Tony,

While you are still young, I would really encourage a few warm ups before Magee - you need to be 100% sharp to give yourself the best opportunity. A fight that should have happend after you beat Barbosa IMO... it was one of those "must happen" fights.

Glad to hear it. Didn't Hobson once promote Magee? Or am I mistaken?

I presume Hennessy promotes him now. I think I've had too much Red Bull for my own good today

Yes Hobson promoted Magee before Hennessey(for the Oakey fight etc).

I think Paul David deserves a shot first.
Didn't Dodson pull out of an English title shot with David due to injury, shortly before boxing abroad ?

I agree with you pugilist. Wht does Dodson get in before David.
Paul says he pulled out twice (in our local wrag) so how could the board let Dodson slip in?

lets get this straight guys i pulled out because of my back injury i provided all the necesary docs from doctor and was put bk 2 weeks in my training and would have been a problem for me to make 12 stone so i vacated the title so the guy could fight for it and i wouldnt hold him up any longer 2nd of all what has he done to deserve a shot ?fornicate all magee has already beaten him i appreciate he has improved a lot and is a threat in the devision good luck to the lad but iam number 3 in the rateing and have earned everything i have done in my carrear the hard way magee is number 2 so lets make the fight and then i will deal with the rest :TU:

hi tony

im not so sure now is the right time to take on magee, yes his crushing KO loss to froch seems to have taken a little out of him but he is still fundamentally a good technician and he does nothing badly. your career has not lived up to the promise you showed prior to your car accident, your promise to put froch 'to sleep' ended up being way way off the mark. i think you need another fight to get ready for a magee fight tony, as i feel at the moment magee would outbox you and win on points.

sorry mate, just my opinion.

and duley noted buddy but to me the other night he looked faded and a shell pal maybe your right but i always perform better against better opponents and this will be no diffrent you will see me shine as for froch, guys hes a world class fighter and i have no shame in loseing to the W.B.C SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION lets not forget the class he is and give me some credit for winning 2 of the 3 rounds against him.I didnt do what i said i was going to do and iam man enough to admit that

He lost to Magee, at the age of 22 after being a pro for just over 8 months, on a close points decision, and you admit he's improved since. Since then he has beaten Haymer and Lowe who have both boxed for the British title at light-heavy, before winning the English title - hardly eff all.
If your promoter can make Magee the type of offer they've made Paul Appleby, I'm sure you'll get the fight.

Tony, you say you had to pull out twice due to injury?

The second time was the end of June, but then I see from your record you fought in ITALY about a week after.

Was it just a niggling injury mate?

Wasn't that on a different promotions card from FA to hay maker? I think you should have a eliminator with Paul David Tony.

I think its a good fight and a pretty logical one. Magee's not the biggest draw and needs good a quality opponent to make things interesting.

As a few people have already said Tony, get as many warm-up fights and rounds under your belt as you can before you challenge for the title.

Its gotta be one of the most inevitable and sorriest sights in boxing when a fighter has come back from a long spell of inactivity (and lack of real stiff competitive rounds) into a title shot only to fade after a few rounds and suffer defeat.

I know boxing is all about taking your opportunities when they arise (not to mention the payday is often badly needed by the fighter) but Magee is a fit, strong boy and will keep plodding forward all night. A loss at this stage, even against Magee could set you back further than you expect.

Good luck Tony.
