AUSSIE SCENE
Re: AUSSIE SCENE
right now it is solid. There are a few performing on the world stage like Kat, Vic, superman, Kali (not often enough) etc. Vic is the real only genuine superstar at present. The local scene is generally o.k. with a few good prospects coming through like Lenny, Willie, Dominator to name just a few. Oh...there is this bloke called Mundine who fits in there as well.MTG wrote:what are the true thoughts from you guys on the standard of aussie boxing as a whole?

The trick now is to keep new talent coming into the system and to keep the good local fighters up against each other, not fighting scrubs.
In general it's probably as good as it has been in the last 24 months. We really need a couple more superstars at world level and then youngens will be attracted to the sport.
Re: AUSSIE SCENE
Sadly, Mundine and his mob with their antics and lousy match-making have really turned Aussie boxing into a hole.aussie boxing as a whole

i didnt know there was an aussie scene.ive been on boxrec for 3 years, and just noticed it today. it was like looking in that storage closet you found behind a pile of boxes at work.
seriously though,i am canadian.so comparatively speaking, the australian scene is bustling.

No heirs to George Chuvalo? How about Bute? He still has not lost a fight and is IBF Super Middleweight champ. Hasn't he taken out Canadian citizenship yet?bobcat wrote:i didnt know there was an aussie scene.ive been on boxrec for 3 years, and just noticed it today. it was like looking in that storage closet you found behind a pile of boxes at work.

Re: AUSSIE SCENE
no,defenitely no top prospects at hw,from what i can see anyways.i was being a bit facetious though,of course there are some top fighters like alcine and molitor(until recently, anyways) bute, diaconnu(if he ever becomes "not" injured again, and pascal.Brute wrote:No heirs to George Chuvalo? bute i think will lose though, when he faces the true top of that class,i actually think pascal is better. as far as bute being a citizen or not,i cant say,honestly....i know hes been here for some time, but cant tell you if he has full citizenship or what.

Re: AUSSIE SCENE
The last part of your post is where you hit it on the head. Some of the match-ups recently in title fights have been bloody disgraceful. If that trend continues Aussie boxing will disappear up it's own bum!toppity wrote:right now it is solid.
