Skelton (Spoiler)
Well Matt can now be called one of these shores over achievers, who thought he could go to ITALY!! of all places and come back with the euro title, god we didn't even have a thread on this forum about this fight. That shows the faith we had in him, well he's proven us all wrong.
For me , and for the future wealth of Skelton i hope we get to see him in a ring with David Haye

Re: Skelton
Haye if he fought Matt would be a major war, Matt wont go down!! David should have few warms before Vitali but he not into that.
Re: Skelton
Brilliant achievement by Matt and he truly has been one of our better heavyweights in terms of results for a good few years.
Forget the fact that many of us don't like his style he has power when he uses it and boxing skills as well when he chooses to use them, he has to be the fittest 40 something going and bloody good luck to him
Defence against Rogan on SN Feb card looks an obvious fight now if they can swing it with teh EBU and presumably a decent pay day if the Germans want to buy the title back for one of there fighters in Germany
Well done Matt

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
What do you mean??
A fight like Rogan-Skelton simply has to be PPV.

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
In an idea world it be Rogan V skelton with Mcluskey v Barnes on card too.

Well done Matt and Kevin Brilliant Job well done

You're getting into the realms of Showtime/HBO involvement nowleforge wrote:In an idea world it be Rogan V skelton with Mcluskey v Barnes on card too.
Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
Fighting Skelton at the stage on his career would be a bad move for Haye to take, especially with a Klitschko fight on the horizon. He wouldn't want to risk that against someone who loves an in-side battle - Matt's awkward and he could very easily cut David, or take a lot out of him, and he doesn't need that a few months before the biggest test of his life against Vitali. I would bang Skelton in with Rogan or Sosnowski for a voluntary and then see how David's fight goes. And, if David was going to have a warm up he would be against a big stiff who won't pose too much threat, just like he did against Bonin before he took on Mormeck in France - this is just the same chicken, just different gravy. But the options Skelton has with this belt should give us some exciting fights, especially with his style.

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
Lennox aside have any other British boxers won as many titles in their first 22 fights?
Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
Can u imagine Matt in a prizefighter contest he be great
Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
Prizefighter? come on - he should back in the mix for a world title fight. No he won't win, but he did okay against Chagaev who is probably the most awkard for him to fight - possibly the quickest of the champions
Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
I know he too good fo it but he be great in that sot of fight. I think he can beat Rogan then possibly another shot at world title!!

Which round....
....did Skelton offficially win in?
I thought it was the 9th since Vidoz didn't come out for the next round, this is how it is recorded on Britishboxing.net too. But Boxrec has it down as TKO 10. Is there a clear rule on this or is it at the discretion of the commission or officials appointed for the fight?

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
My first thoughts were Haye Skelton please. I think it'd be a good fight, good experiance for Haye (if he won) and also could be made to be a big media event which would help sell tickets for the Vitali fight. I'm not currently convinced Haye can sell out Stanford Bridge as has been mooted!

Nothing has to be PPV. If enough people said bollox to it they would have to drop it.steve689 wrote:What do you mean??![]()

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
While most have been saying Big Matt is a talentless big lump I have defended him all the way. He isnt highly skillful, he knows that, but he is a lot better than people say he is. He has heart and guts and for a fighter in his 40s he is quite remarkable. He still is Britains best HW, a position he has held for a few years now. When he fought Williams in their first fight he did everything wrong and lost the decision. In the second fight he used his brain and his feet and won easily. I was very impressed that night with his footwork. Lets not forget Matt never had an amateur career, and he certainly didnt win an Olympic medal. Nice man and loads of respect to him for all he has achieved.

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
Warren should aim on getting Skelton a shot at Valuev.
If the Klits wern't champs, then Skelon would have a chance at the other belts but their too good for Matt.

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
I think Chagaev still holds a version as well but Matt lost to him in a very good try. Valuev has to be the only one Matt has any chance against, but I wouldnt say he stood much of a chance. Sadly I think the chances of Matt getting a World belt are not very good but there are some good fights for him.Max Molyneux wrote:Warren should aim on getting Skelton a shot at Valuev.

Re: Skelton (Spoiler)
Great win for Matt. Vidoz is an under achiever in the pro game, but still a solid European level heavyweight. I think that now confirms Skelton's position at the top of pile of British heavies in the last few years.
Anyone seen the fight? What was the stoppage like?
