Well i saw this news in BN, And would like to say that Billy gave it a good go when he got in the ring, I know he posts on here, and has said before that the pro's were never his thing.
But he gave it a go everytime he got in the ring, win or lose.
I'd like to say thanks to him.

Life recognises people who stide into the arena and put themselves on the line.

There are a million people out there who could have beaten Ali in the ring, Steve Davis on the snooker table or
could have played for England in whatever discipline - but they didn't have the guts to put themselves on the line and find out.

Billy can say when he is an old man with grandkids 'I was a pro heavyweight fighter' thats a proud boast.

Thanks mate, it reminds of one of Muhammad Alis accquaintances who knew the greatest at school who said 'I used to beat the crap out of him after school and when he beat Liston I and all my friends were shocked'

Ali went on to make history.

Alis schoolyard nemisis probably bragged about beating him up everyday and will continue to do so till the day he snuffs it!

One mans legacy will be written in the history books and one mans legacy will last the same amount of time as writing his name in water.

One of life's good guys. Wore his heart on his sleeve and was game as a pebble. One of my greatest sporting memories was seeing him pole-axe Mighty Joe Young to win the ABA's. I shed salt tears of joy that night. Though his preparation for the Mark Hobson fight, steadily sinking Guinness in 42nd Street for 3 weeks, will be forever filed in the "unorthadox" section.

my amateur record was about won55 lost35 but was in the top 10 for years but wasnt really any good till towards the end where i won 21 out of my last 25
didnt really fight many pros as an am dom negus1-1 paul king 3-1 israel ajose0-2(he was the hardest hitting bloke i ever fought) nice bloke anyone know what hes up to now?huggy osman1-0 no one special really oh yeah david haye 1(1)-0 ha ha i wish i was down to fight audley in the a.b.a semis but i jumped off my mountain bike 2 days b4 and had 20 stitches so that never happened
dunno why ny bro is slim and im fat i love the pies and he dont maybe
i will have you know when it was the boxing season i was an 8;40 man but off season oh god i was blowing to get 10;29

I remember watching Billy KO 'Mighty' Joe Young in the ABA finals (I think.) At the time Joe was talking about bettering his clubmate Audley.

Then in walks in fat pie-scoffing Billy and Kos him.

It was, along with Darren Corbett - Chris Okoh, the least likely victory on appearances....looked like two pub drinkers vs 2 musclemen
