VIPBoxing.com News .....

Post by Stegsie »

VIP XMAS PARTY - After a successful 2008 the boys had a morning paintball session followed by a relaxed Chinese banquet in Manchester city centre a few days after the jolly boys . Highlights of the day were Gomez running out of bullets in 30 seconds , Moorsey screaming when shot ,Tony Quigley blasting Stuart Mcfadyen after he had declared himself out , Steve Wood being peppered by Mike Pass after his gun had jammed and Mark Moran hiding at home base like a seasoned sniper. The big disappointment was Alex Mattvienko failing to make it and blaming it on his own son , when we all knew he was pissed up in bed.

It would be good to see a few more match ups like this on the card! :TU: Fights where the opponent has a winning record, and we know he will come to fight, and have a decent chance of winning! :box:

These sort of fights are very entertaining, especially if the opponent brings some fans with him too! So much better than journeymen opponents.

To be fair, Jack Arnfield's record is similar. This sort of fight is a step in the right direction- I think it will be a good match.

Brian Rose's opponent was easily beaten by Arnfield recently, not sure why they haven't found Rose someone a bit more challenging, assuming the Blackpool fighters are the main attraction.

Its a 'stacked' card on the left hand (home) side of the bill alright, but the right hand side of the card could do with beefing up.. That is not a dig at Steve Wood and his team in particular - cautious match making and record building are endemic within modern pro boxing, unfortunately. :-?

I think its more to do with money steve doesn't get any tv money and you need money to get more decent names in for his fighters. Its hard to make a profit from ticket sales alone even harder this day and age with the credit cruch.

To tell the truth the above post is not realy true,Real journymen cost more because they know what they are coming for but guys coming to win and beleiving in themselves will fight for less to get the fights as they find it harder to get regular work.

This being said the fights on Steves shows are well matched and usualy good.
