Evander Holyfield he fought the best 70s up to 2010's
Can you beleive Evander has fought some of the best HW's of the past 4 decades! This no doubt gives him a unique insight.I'd especially love to ask Evander how he rates the Valuev's, Chagaevs, Klitchos,Povetkins and Ibragimovs against the old version of Foreman . Imo old Foreman would beat this present crop one by one.
In all Evander fought the following guys from their respective decades:
1970's- George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Ossie Ocasio.
1980's- Mike Tyson,Pinklon Thomas, Michael Dokes
1990's- Riddick Bowe, Michael Moorer, Ray Mercer, Larry Donald.
2000's- Lennox Lewis, Chris Byrd, James Toney, John Ruiz, Hasim Rahman, Sultan
Ibragimov,Nicolai Valuev.

Of the fellows you mentioned in your third sentence, I think Foreman takes all, with the possible exceptions being the Klitschko brothers. Vitali was/is mechanical & less-gifted than his brother, but he's tough --- I have to give him that. If Foreman can't KO him, Klitschko may outwork him for the decision. Wlad would hurt --- but fail to subdue --- Foreman with his powerhouse jab (not impressed with Wlad like others are, but his jab is excellent), but would that shaky chin be exposed? I've no doubt Foreman could KO him, looking solely at power as an issue. Can George set him up, though? Maybe, maybe not.
Foreman blasts the rest. None hear the final bell, & it'd be particularly satisfying to see sport-devaluer Valuev be KTFO.

It is a pretty cool resume, isn't it. Also on that list are two trilogies and three guys he fought twice. And you could add Bert Cooper, Buster Douglas (not that he's a great, but y'know) and the two fights with Dwight Muhammad Qawi.
And I agree with GI, it'd be so great to see Valuev KTFO.

Re: Evander Holyfield he fought the best 70s up to 2010's
GI how does your Foreman beat my man Holmes ?:)
chuck in James Tillis, Henry Tillman (atleast a decent amateur),
Carlos Deleon(top CW), Bobby Czyz (decent LHW and CW), even
a tough contender Alex Stewart who was knocking alot of people
out before he met Holyfield.
John Ruiz should be added to the mix. As you could make a case
for Fres Oquendo...
In any case that is a pretty decent list of greats, near greats and
contemporary contenders.

The clash of an old Foreman (for clarities sake I would put in the one from 1989-1992, as I think the 1993-1994 one had lost a step), against the "russian wave" of 2000's HW's is fascinating.
The guys that gave Foreman the most problems in his comeback were the ones who moved and boxed but had a good punch behind them. Im thinking of Holyfield and Morrison.
Foreman mk II had the punch resistance and defence to stand up to the Klitchko's and he was a remarkable combination puncher. I beleive both Klitchko's would have fallen prey to a big guy in their face, hurting them to the body and Foremans power would have put them out for the count.
One thing Foreman never did in his life was standing off a foe taking shot after shot, like we have seen faded versions of Mercer and Rahman do. Also his jab would simply make guys like ibragimov fold like a accordion. What he would have done to Valuev would be similar to what he did against Gerry cooney.
Now that I think of it the Cooney that fought Holmes would have beaten these russians as well.

Me? Suggest such blasphemy!? Never
Actually, if you take another look, you'll see I wrote, "...of the men you mentioned in your third sentence..."
Those men were the Klitschko's, Valuev, Ibragimov, Chagaev, & Povetkin. No Holmes in sight

His resume is a who's who
Re: Evander Holyfield he fought the best 70s up to 2010's
what no one's ever done is punch the klitchkos to the chest. Old man Foreman would have punched them so hard to the chest it would have caused internal damage. I remember george saying it during the lewis-holyfield 1 commentary "these young fellas dont punch to the chest you punch someone to the chest and it takes their energy away".

Holyfield was a great champion.....he is now walking on his heels......and a sad sight.
He should have quit long ago to be remembered for the champion he was.....now he is just a pathetic shell of fighter who is trying to relive his glory. His time has passed........ :(

Re: Evander Holyfield he fought the best 70s up to 2010's
ringsider....is a guy who has accomplished all that he has accomplished and can go in and last with champions to this day really that pathetic?
I sort of get what you mean perhaps in terms of why he still pursues it, or compared to his prime. But he's just practicing his craft....and he's no longer at his best, and he's burned through millions of bucks.
He may end up pathetic, might be on the road to same. But he just fought a champion to a virtual draw. Not sure that's pathetic. In fact it's pretty damn amazing in the endurance dept alone.
Now a guy who pre judges ALL southpaws to be no good based on that aspect alone....now that's a different story.

Evander's sad past 14 years has proven my point.......Now a guy who pre judges ALL southpaws to be no good based on that aspect alone....now that's a different story.
History has spoken on the southpaw issue........ An abomination it is.......a pestilance to the craft of boxing.

Maybe I'm missing some sarcasm or something, but why would you call his past 14 years all sad? The two Tyson fights are within the last 14 years. So's the TKO of Moorer, the win over Mercer, the draw with Lewis, the three-fight draw with Ruiz, the win over Oquendo, and going the distance with Byrd, Donald, Ibragimov and Valuev.

and perhaps it "left" you out?
anyway I was wondering if the video clip had been reversed since I had not heard he was a southpaw.
