USA Boxing messed up!

Post by ksssd »

Hi All

I just wanted to vent a little. Im good friends with the San Ardo Boxing Club, whos boxer Roman Morales is the number 1 ranked the 119 pounder. I just found out that Ernie Garza from Michigan the number 4 ranked 119 pounder was selected for the Ireland dual meet. What a croc of you know what!

Roman has worked hard to be #1 and deserves better. I think USA Boxing is working extra hard to ruin the pool of talent it has. After the Olympic debacle what else can go wrong. ill tell you by slighting the #1 for the #4 who has not earned the right to travel anywhere. only the top 3 fighters are supposed to have that right.

I would appreciate it if all you amateur boxing fans would voice your displeasure to USA Boxing and maybe they will do the right thing and send Roman.

Thanks

David, I don't understand. Ernie won the National Golden Gloves this year and beat Roman in the final. I can't debate their choice on this one. Where did you get your info?

I actually prefer it if USA Boxing would select the best boxer in a weight class and not just the highest ranked boxer. The rankings can be misleading. A boxer who competes in more ranking tournaments may get more points than someone who enters just one. Ernie Garza defeated Roman Morales by 5-0 judges decision at the 2008 National Golden Gloves. Ernie was clearly the better boxer at least on that day in May 2008. Roman boxed in the US Championships and the National PAL so he got more ranking points. It is much easier for boxers from California to compete in the National PAL than it is for boxers from Michigan.

sorry man but those rankings dont mean a thing right now. everyone is trying to base things off of it. Its not accurate anyway. being number 1 dont mean anything in the rankings now, its who ever wins the u.s. championships, thats how i look at it!

Hey Joey - are you going to be boxing at Hvy or Shvy? Are you getting ready for the PA GG? The Philly GG starts the same time as our local GG tournament here in West Michigan.

Only while the National PAL was in California and 2008 was the last year.

My intent was to state that 2008 is the last year it will be in California - not that it was the only year.

The ranking system has been a novelty for years. The only way that it will have some validity is if USA Boxing had quarterly ranking tournaments for example; June - National Championships, Sept-National PAL, Dec- XXXX, March- XXX. Just my opinion. Be blessed.

Hi Joey. Good luck at the regionals. Ours doesn't start until May. I will tell Jordan. Say hi to your gramps. My dad also says hi to both of you. Craig Lewis is still boxing in the amateur ranks. He is boxing at SHVY. He has been since July or August 2008.

Let me know how the regionals go - who you boxed, etc.

ksssd ;

I also was wounding was that happened, Here is what could have happened.

Roman did not register USADA or did not return calls to USA Boxing the key is make sure all info is up to date.

There was a young man out New Mexico that did not register with USADA and he was past of I also heard that after he did register with USADA that he was around to take the test. So if there was not a good reason for that then That is strike one after 3 he could be suspended from UAS Boxing.

Good News is there another camp in the works middle march.
