I saw this fight close circuit and have watched it many times on film and ape over the years. I agree with those who say it shows Ali at his best. the unusual thing I find about it is their comparitive appearance. Williams was considered a big and perfectly built strong looking fighter...a non-muscle bound body beautiful. Yet against Ali he seems so much smaller, and I think it was in this fight that I actually realized how big ali had become, without looking bulky....a splendid phyical specimen.
Ali himself said Williams was past his prime and not the dangerous fighter he had been, but based on this fight it's hard to see how Williams could have done much better no matter when they fought, ali was so masterful in this one.
