Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
Let's have a scenario here.....
Khan loses to Barrera and needs to consolidate his position at domestic and European level. I'm saying this, because if Khan does beat Barrera, then he wont even consider the likes of Murray.
Khan has his fast hands, good range of punches, good movement and can punch aswell. He has a dodgy looking defence that has'nt really been improved by Roach, has a tendancy to go on the offensive when in trouble and has the weak chin. Murray is a traditional fighter, grinding down his opponents in a relentless bent of aggression, punches flowing, power, teriffic strength and endurance. We all saw how McCalister caused Murray a lot of problems with his fast hands and good movement, until he tired and allowed himself to get drawn into a slugfest, a tactic that suited Murray...
So, the question is......
Who do you think would win this fight ?

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
50/50 is my eyes. Khan has the speed and skill to outbox Murray but if Murray fights like we know he can when in with the best, then I would fancy him.
Murray TKO11 after being behind by one or two points.

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
If Khan loses to Barrera by KO then I think Murray would also KO him. If Khan is less fragile thanks to spreading the weight more evenly on his body, I think Khan will beat Murray.

Khan is on a different level at the moment, that's not to say Murray couldn't take him, but for me Khan has excellent hand speed, and a good engine. He's more seasoned too in my opinion.
The speed and the stamina should be enough to see Murray off, certainly from what I have seen of Murray so far.

I agree Murry is over rated on boxrec. Khan is too fast but could still be ko'd. Khan stoppage between 7-10 rnds.

People critisise Khan's competition and flaws, and then hype up a fighter with far worse competition and far bigger flaws and limitations.
Murray LOST to a FW Hamidi, has a terribly open defense, is much slower than Khan, problems with movement and at best average power. Khan stops him mid rounds

I think Murray stops Khan late after being behind on points. Murray doesnt have Khans skills or speed, but durability he does have.

murray is consistent and won't be going anywhere.
can he really hold him off?
barrera's gonna walk him down good and proper anyway.

Are you sure of your opnions ? Most are going for Khan
I have to say that i agree with them, unless Murray could withstand Khan's speed and power and take him into the latter stages and start to break him down. I would obly give Murray a slight chance, if the fight went beyond nine rounds or so. But i know what your like and you will stick to your guns
Good on you for that......But i think your wrong this time mate
Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
If Murray was busy and kept having good wins like Meager and McAllister, more would believe in him. The problem with Murray seems to be that you see him once or twice a year looking good, then you see nothing of him for months, then he has to pick up again when the fans have gone cold. With his style you'd think he'd need to be kept busy.
I think Murray is the best of the British bunch around 130-135 incl Khan, Arthur, Mitchell and reckon he'd win most. However Khan is the hardest fight, because of the speed and movement.
Despite Khan's speed and movement, he does lose concentration and obviously has been hurt badly a few times. Even against Gomez, a slow fighter by this point.
It would be a highly motivating fight for Murray, and I reckon he'd start slow, but crucially wouldn't panic, and would gradually get into it. When the body shots come in, and when Amir tires from his pretty frantic style, Murray would probably wear him down.
Hopefully both go far and fight one day when it's worth a lot, like Haye-Macca.

I think a lot will depend on how the MAB fight goes.
At the moment I would have Khan as a clear favourite but if MAB knocks him out bad it would let Murray right into the running

Emphatic mid-round stoppage for Khan. Too fast and hits too hard for Murray, who is a bit slow of hand and foot in comparison.

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
Murray too easy to hit.
If Khan boxes him he wins IMO.

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
Stylewise, it's all Khan. Murray struggles with taller guys and Khan would be too quick for him.

Khan would light him up like a Christmas tree.
Stylewise its a bad match up for Murray IMO.
Would love to see the fight though.

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
Khan would beat Murray IMO not too much trouble, inside the distance too. Murray constantly coming forward would only facilitate this I reckon.
Prescott was just a blip...wrong tactics - in with a banger. Murray doesn't bang like Prescott. Khan has shown before (Limond best example) that he can eat leather and get back up.
Also look at Murray's face after the Mcallister fight (who I had tipped by the way :( ), he looked busted up - Khan would hit him harder and more often.

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
The fact is Murray struggles with speed and Khan struggles with pressure and strength. Both have something the other doesn't like. I think a lot of fight watchers are impatient, can't see past what will happen in the first 3 or 4 rds i.e. Khan on the move looking flashy. Can Khan keep that up after the early fast burst, when the fight settles. I don't know. Lot of bad habits with him, puling back, dropping hands, languishing on ropes. Murray did just beat a fast guy, McAllister, which must be damn good pratice. Can build on this, has the concentration and the patience to do the job, has the tools to SLOW DOWN a fast fighter. Murray marks up, sure, but Khan is perhaps a Horizontal Herbie in waiting, goes down far too easily.
Truth could be, Khan may not even fight a proper lightweight before eventual title fight.

Re: Murray vs Khan.....Who wins ?
But the thing is Murray isn't a puncher. I know Limmond had Khan down, as did Gomez so you never know but at one point in the McAllister fight, McAllister just stood in a corner and let Murray hit him square on the chin. And it didn't have much effect. I agree Murray, as a pressure fighter, gets stronger as the fight goes on whilst the opponent tires but I get the feeling Khan could keep up the movement for twelve rounds. Fitness and stamina doesn't seem to be an issue for Khan. Still, it's a fight I'd like to see. Incidently, I'm in the middle of watching Campbell-Funeka and to be brutally honest I couldn't see Murray on current form competing at this level. Khan maybe were it not for that chin!Autobarn wrote:The fact is Murray struggles with speed and Khan struggles with pressure and strength. Both have something the other doesn't like.
