HARRISON TARGETS HAYE
Announces friendship is at an end after fight snub!
Audley Harrison announced today he is targeting a bout with long time friend David Haye, after Audley was snubbed in his attempt to kick start his career on a Hayemaker promoted show.
‘I hear David is looking for a warm up bout after Wladimir decided they over played their hand. The latest I’m hearing from America is David is going to have to wait now and Wladimir is looking at other options.’
‘I am happy to step into the ring with David and pay him back after the last sparring session we had where he took liberties after my first lost to Danny Williams. To make it worse, Lennox Lewis had come to see me. David and his sidekick Adam turned up unannounced and tried to blast me out. When people were telling me ‘he’s using you’ and ‘that was uncalled for’, I pushed it aside.’
‘When I used to put him on my shows, when no one knew who he was, he was not even required to sell tickets or help promote the show in any way, people said ‘he’s using you’, but I brushed it aside. When I let down all my friends and brought David as my ringside guest for Tyson versus Francis, ‘he’s using you’ they said but I ignored it. When I brought David as my private guest to P Diddy’s Private Party,’ he’s using you!’ they said. Over and over again I’ve heard this, but I always thought that I had read David right. I’m awake now and can’t really recall when David has really gone out of his way for me.’
‘All I wanted was an opportunity to appear on the Ryan Rhodes under-card in March. I’m told, sorry bud, no room for you. He didn’t even speak to me; he had Adam speak to me, which was even more insulting.’
‘So David, it looks like you have forgotten all the times I’ve gone out of my way for you, both professionally and personally.’
‘If you are still considering a warm up bout before your title tilt, then I’m sure the British public would love to see you send me into retirement. They might say I am undeserving of a shot at you but who else are you going to fight? You say you want a challenge, well I know you David and I don’t think you really think you can walk through me and take me out. I dare you to make this match.’
It will be personal.

Haye doesn't need the fight to be frank. Audley does but at this point doesn't bring much to the table.

Why do I think this is a fight worth making?
I've no idea you bloody lunatic
Yes, but I do think it would be interesting
As opposed to what, Coronation Street?
Well I wouldn't go that far, Stephanie Beacham is in that
And as her second role in twenty five years, she's got a better workrate.
Thats just a cheap shot.
Yeh, I know, couldn't resist.

By "Tried to blast me out", and "took liberties"... does Audley mean Haye actually threw some punches, and tried to hit him? Just wondered, because as far as i'm aware... thats what sparring involves.
Maybe as he's so scarred of getting hit fighting, typical sparring for Big Aud just involves holding that arm out and dancing at distance? :??

Re: Audley Harrison targets David Haye. "It's personal"
Bloody hell Audley sounds a bit desperate here doesn't he.
How the mighty have fallen.
Went from being the next big thing, to can't even get a promoter...
Very sad actually.
And talking about the liberties, sounds very childish and silly. Of course Haye was going to want to make an impression in sparring if Lewis was watching. Audley is basically blaming him for trying!
Mad thing is I really believe Audley had bags of talent.
I wouldn't even count out Audley landing a punch and hurting David.
But what would probably happen is Audley paws his right and panics every time Haye farts.

Re: Audley Harrison targets David Haye. "It's personal"
Audley is way too big for him.
He would give him trouble for the first few rounds, but once he's been worked out he'll hit the canvas.
Shit - read it wrong - thought he said he wanted to fight Rhodes not on the undercard.

I would like too the this fight, one will get knocked out flat and early on
Obviously Haye would be hot favorite, but Aud hits hard enough to flatten David and he can be an awkward buggar to get hold of.
Neither are good distance fighters so it will be short and sweet.
Aud needs the shot and if Haye wants a big domestic name who has the Klits proportions and is beatable I think it is good all round

I'm gutted that Haye-Wlad looks further and further away, especially if it's due to Haye overplaying his hand

All part of the hype and build up mate.
It will happen - when the Oligarchs say so.

if haye doesnt want to give harrison a token fight on the undercard of one of his promotions, hes hardly likely to fight him in the main event is he?

To be honest though they are meant to be friends, and Haye did get BBC exposure on Harrisons cards so why can't he put Audley on.
I wonder if Haye felt a bit of resentment to all the money and attention Audley got at the start of his career?
Lets be honest Haye was badly managed and promoted until he fought Enzo.
Cheers

Haye was badly managed?
On what basis?
He isn't the ticket seller you might think he is you know.
Remember he hasn't been error free on the way through?

Sorry I don't understand your post, you kind of answered your own question. On what basis is Haye badly managed? He isn't the ticket seller you might think he is you. That's my point exactlyDavidPayne wrote:Haye was badly managed?

Haye was fighting at small halls before the Enzo fight, thats a fact mate.
He went to Paris to fight for the world title and that came very close to NOT being on Uk tv. That's awful management in my opinion.
A British World Champion who can't get a TV deal!
He fought Enzo sold out the O2 (Something he couldn't do for the Barrett fight) and then got the setanta deal.
With his charisma, looks, exciting style not to mention he's a former Undisputed World Champion, he should be a mega star already.
And um, he isn't.
IMO the management hasn't been brilliant.
Surely thats not a difficult statement to comprehend?
Cheers

Re: Audley Harrison targets David Haye. "It's personal"
And for someone so overtly in control of their own destiny, with managers and promoters providing little more than advocacy for Haye's actions, is it fair to say he's been badly managed?
Haye isn't conventional in most regards.
You have to ask, if he's now essentially self-managed, why did it prove so difficult to sell out for his heavyweight fight, so hard to get a decent opponent and why is it now so distant a possibility that Klitschko, of either variety, will be his next, or even next but one opponent - when he publicly declared the fights made?
He now has to go back to the contenders list he tried to leap frog, to make a fight or maybe two or maybe 3.
That isn't brilliant management is it?
Maloney guided him through the EBU route against stiff, upright, hittable opponents to a WBC shot inside 18 months if I'm not mistaken.
I dunno mate. I think criticisng his management has two flaws, one; he hasn't done bad considering he's had just 20 odd fights and two; the management of him post Enzo which you elect to applaud, has been a lot of promo, escaltor hi-jinx and last minute matchmaking. But as of now nearly March 09, whats on his radar for the year.
Ringside seats for Klitschko v Gomez, Klitschko v Arreola, Klitschko v Maskaev and Klitschko v Povetkin would be my guess.
I like Haye, I admire his get on with it attitude, but I hope he had a plan c for when plan a and plan b called his bluff and left him at the alter.
Does he have Valuev's number or Chagaev or Ibragimov or hell even Briggs or Holyfield or Sam Peter or Ruiz?

Good PR move for David Haye to fight the UKs Pantomime Villain, potentially a safe name for Haye to fight where his chin isn't likely to be tested.
Would be funny is Audley through a spanner in the works, though.
Audley v Wlad Klitschko in 2009, against all odds!!!

Hopefully this fight does happen, and the headache this clown receives will hopefully convince him to retire.
Re: Audley Harrison targets David Haye. "It's personal"
If this fight did happen, which i think is unlikely Haye would spark that big pussy Audley in a round.
Still i wouldn't mind seeing it, could be an entertaining fight.
Seeing Audley get beat just never gets boring for me.

Is Haye even ranked? Monte Barrett certainly wasn't. Surely the criteria for fighting him isn't that strict?

Re: Audley Harrison targets David Haye. "It's personal"
i think we all know david would beat audley in probably in what would be in spectacular fashion as audley just can't handle anyone coming towards let alone someone as fast as david haye.
now saying that, i can understand why audley is annoyed if what he says is true, if he did all that for david when david was an unknown, then david should pay him back by just giving him that one fight back on his card, it's only a fight on a card, and i don't understand why not anyway because even though audley is a laughing stock people still would talk about him fighting.
both fighters seem alike in that they have big ego's and they think they're better than what they really are. david this he's a " star", which he's not yet, which is most likely the wladimir fight has broken down as david does'nt bring much to the table, not as much as he makes out anyway.
you'll most likely find out wladimir can get more money fighting a top eastern european in germany than fight david haye.

Pretty childish stuff from big Audrey, sounds like he's got his knickers in a right twist.
Obviously he's looking to try and cash in one last time, but he's been done to death now and is certainly not deserving of a shot at Haye. It could be good for a laugh though
