Mickey Goodwin, former pro boxer-turned-trainer, was found dead in his home on the outskirts of Detroit on Tuesday. Mickey (40-2-1, 28 KO) won the 1975 Golden Gloves as an amateur and turned pro in 1977. Over his pro career, Mickey won 93% of his fights and was one of the original bright lights that helped create the Kronk Gym reputation.
Mickey died at the age of 51 (or 50) after suffering a stroke and falling down a flight of steps at his home. In recent years, Mickey ran the River Rouge Boxing Gym where he taught his love for the sport to another generation of fighters.
