Harry Simon - what's his story?

Please pardon my ignorance on this, but glancing at the record of Harry Simon, I can see he retired undefeated and also won the WBO Light Middle and Middle belts, defeated guys like Winky Wright and Wayne Alexander, but how come there are no other 'names' on his record or fights for other belts?

I saw this on his bio; "On August 5, 2005, Simon was given a two-year jail sentence after he was found guilty of "culpable homicide" stemming from a November 2002 car accident that resulted in the deaths of three people." - but in 2002 he would have been 30 years old and coming off the back of beating Armand Krajnc for the WBO Middleweight belt, so I suppose the car accident may have put things on ice.

Anyway, like I said, if anyone can give me some more details bout him, both as a boxer and also with regards to what happened to him (presumably in jail now), I would appreciate it.

Who were the big names in Light Middle and Middle between 98 and 02? Out-of-ring trouble aside, how do you think Harry Simon would have done against them?

First time I say Simon was when he fought Winky Wright, at the time I thought what has Simon done to deserve a title shot (the biggest name on his record was a faded Del Bryan) & I expected him to get his ass kicked by one of my favourite fighters. I remember the fight was a really good one, very fast paced and I was stunned at how good Simon was, I had him winning by a couple of points on my card.

He then looked pretty awesome in stopping Lueshing, but I think he started to unravel in the gym, he fell out with his trainer Brian Mitchell (because he didn’t want to train & wouldn’t take instruction). From their he struggled to impose himself against Enrique Areco & looked absolutely shit against Rodney Jones (a lot of people thought Jones won), he looked exciting in stopping big punching late sub Wayne Alexander but for all his power Alexander was very limited.

From their he moved up in weight, I didn’t see him beat Cherifi but I saw him beat Krajnc, against light middleweights Simon had always seemed much bigger and stronger then his opponents against Krajnc he looked small, he struggled but won the fight by boxing off the back foot.

I read in the Ring that he had a tough upbringing in Namibia but I think his main problem was that he was cocky and when success came all he wanted to do was party and have a good time.

I don’t know what he’s doing now that he’s out of jail.

Wayne Alexander hit him with a huge right, one of the only times i can remember Simon being shook, but he recovered in a second and started to work the body of Alexander.

Ha ha! Exactly! And I think the next response from Clubber Lang showed Hagler to be a bit of a douche as just like you said I wanted some words from the knowledgable folk of Boxrec. :)
