James Kirkland, one tough muvver

Not sure if many of you caught Kirlkands fight with Julio. This was my first time seeing this guy in action and he is all action.

He's a bit like Mayorga with dedication. Took Julios best punches, this from a guy who has 30 odd kayos in 35 fights. Wore him down and beat him up.

He is a right handful at 154lbs and could be the most exciting fighter out there right now.

Worth a look if you get the chance.

I'd like to see him against a slick fighter that can move before I hail him as the best in the division. For me, Foreman and Angulo are better prospects.

Plus Wolf's training regime will eventually catch up with him. Be a good ride whilst it lasts, though.

I have been following him for a while now. Ultra exciting fighter. He reminds me of Nigel Benn with his all action style. Is willing to take a shot to give one.

Great power to the body as well. He should go all the way.

I would like to see Cotto step up a division and take him on in the future, would be a classic. Cotto would school him IMO

He would stop Cotto the same way Margarito did, styles make fights and Kirkland is all wrong for Miguel.

He's exciting. Best he makes his money now. Move him fast, keep him busy, get him his big opportunity. As he'll burn out. When a stocky guy like that sees his prime slip by, he's seldom any good any more.

He's good, but he's got big holes in his game. Right now his determination and aggressivness overcomes that, but if he fights a more seasoned champion he'll have some problems. Good to watch though.

Yeah i'd compare him with Benn as well, actually with guys like Kirkland and Benn its not the movers that give them problems, its when someone stands with them and gets them on the back foot.

What's Wolfe's training regime like? I'm assuming it's much the same as hers used to be -- & I can't see her getting those arms & shoulders from padwork & star-jumps -- so is it massively punishing? Does she put him through some kind of high-tech weights thing?

I'd love to know, I've not heard anything of his training before.

Ones that spring to mind; The Wolf would drive a pickup truck, with a heavy bag on the bag, and make James run behind it hitting it gradullay speeding up. She'd also make him spar more than one person at a time in a 16 foot ring and on occasion tied his arms together and he had to evade up to 3 fighters at once.

She also allegedly made him spar prison inmates and they were allowed to fight dirty.

I consider Antillon as a Mexican. I think he's rated well in the WBC. Been in plenty of under the radar fights on Latino channels.

Kirkland seems exciting - but the talk is that he will face off against the heavy handed Mexican Alfred Angulo 15-0 (12ko) this year at some point before heading for belts.

Fair play to Kirkland. Every fight people right him off and predict he will get stopped or that he has no defence etc but each time he performs and gives wildly exciting performances. Good luck to him

Good performance, great win. Think Julio just quit though - I had it 3/3 at the end of the 6th. Kirkland does look a little raw, but with a bit of head movement and learning how to pace a fight, I think he could be the business.
