Domicile Hall of Fame

Post by Grant »

I know we all have our favourites and the Aust HOF contains, or at least should contain, the names of fighters who have graced the world stage and left their mark. Fighters such as Rose, Fammo, Darcy, Tony Mundine, Jef Fenech, Curruthers, Hector Thompson, Paul Ferrari, Harding, Sands, Rocky Mattioli, Lester and Barry ‘Boy’, Manny Santos and those such as Kostya and Vic D who will be surely be there as they become eligible.
But, and here is my point, what about those fighters who never went overseas but never the less were hard at work winning and losing Aussie titles and taking on opponents of similar ability for us at home. Giving all they had over 12 and 15 rounds for titles for which they were paid the equivillent of a good night out at a fancy restaurant. Those fighters who had to turn up the next day at the factory or production line at put in eight or more hours.
How about a ‘Domicile HOF’ or something similar.
This HOF I would see as recognition for the guy’s who stayed at home, OK they mostly had lesser ability but they fought for ‘US’, with heart.
Fighters like, and this is off the top of my head now.

Leo Young
Tony ‘Mad Dog’ Miller
Hillary Connelly
Jeff Malcolm

If anyone likes we could hold a ballot for inductees, I’ll run it if nobody more qualified wants the job.

Anyway
