Good match, Khan should be too quick, but will his chin hold up?
At least Khan is willing to stand up and be counted so lets get behind the boy!!

If this is true fair play to Amir.

Re: Khan v Kotelnik - WBA l-welter agreed for June 27
all i can say is great fight. then again can khans chin take koteliniks punch? khans hand speed is an advantage plus khan can win by points if it goes 12 rounds.
Re: Khan v Kotelnik - WBA l-welter agreed for June 27
Kotelnik was supposed to fight Victor Ortiz on a double header bill in America with James Kirkland against Sergiy Dzinziruk. Looks like FW has jumped in there and got the fight for Khan. Fair play.
I wonder if Khan will stay at the weight if he wins the title? It will also bring up talk of a Khan/Hatton fight however unlikely that is to happen.

Great fight for Khan but who else thinks Khan was a bit stupid on Bunce's show by saying Kotelnik was the worst world champ in boxing? Now thats who he is going after - surely a hollow world title then?
Will Khan stay at light welter now? Khan to win then Khan-Hatton anyone??

Re: Khan v Kotelnik - WBA l-welter agreed for June 27
I would actually give Khan a chance to win this one...
Actually, nah. Kotelnik hits harder than Limond, has a tight defence and great chin. He's just going to stick around for the whole fight and wait for Khan to gas. I would give Khan a better chance of beating Kotelnik than Diaz just because Diaz would throw more. But Kotelnik is so sound he is going to land a few on Khan, and while not a huge hitter at light welter, has the extra weight to rival anyone who was capable of blowing Khan out down at lightweight.
Kotelnik KO 7.

Take the easiest option Fwank, would you
like me to write down 30 other jr welters
that beat Khan.

That was my first thought.doctorboxing wrote:Great fight for Khan but who else thinks Khan was a bit stupid on Bunce's show by saying Kotelnik was the worst world champ in boxing? Now thats who he is going after - surely a hollow world title then?
I think Khan has a good chance against Kotelnik. Rees could have beaten him with better power and stamina, and I felt Maidana did enough to win in Kotelnik's last fight.
If Khan wins then hopefully (for him) Dimitri Salita would be the first mandatory. I'm distinctly unimpressed with him. However, if Victor Ortiz becomes the mandatory then Khan will have to vacate or lose, imo.
Edit: Ah, of course! Nate Campbell is ranked 4th by the WBA. I think Warren would like to make that fight.
Re: Khan v Kotelnik - WBA l-welter agreed for June 27
Am I the only one thinking that he's taking this fight as it's easier than the Death Row which is the Lightweight division?

Kotelnik's awful, he just goes forward with his tight guard. All Khan needs to do is stay on the defensive and pepper this guy with fast shots and he'll win a UD.
Rees was doing well but just kept dropping his hands too, he could of lasted the distance and won a close decision or lost a close one. I thought it was close as he was landing alot of body shots on him when he was close too.Rees could have beaten him with better power and stamina
Who's the hardest option at LWW then? Plus it is a step up for Khan.Take the easiest option Fwank, would you

Damnit, Malignaggi is also going to be an option for Khan at light welterweight.
Re: Khan v Kotelnik - WBA l-welter agreed for June 27
Less than a year ago the majority was calling him the 2nd best Light Welter in the world. So why the "damn it" - is it cause he is a light puncher and you want to see Khan KO'D?Asterix wrote:Damnit, Malignaggi is also going to be an option for Khan at light welterweight.
The "death row" that is Lightweight, will soon be LWW.
Juan Manuel Marquez, Velero are thinking of moving up soon. Campbell is there, Kasidis is a big Lightweight as is Prescott.

It's because I don't find Malignaggi entertaining and I think him vs Khan could well be a boring fight.stujones wrote:Less than a year ago the majority was calling him the 2nd best Light Welter in the world. Edit: I'm probably being overly cynical. At least we'd get to see just how good Khan is offensively.

Re: Khan v Kotelnik - WBA l-welter agreed for June 27
Looks like I'm in a distinct minority here as I think Kotelnik could be a tough fight for Khan whereas I really fancied him against Diaz if that had come off - think Diaz was tailor-made to showcase Khan's assets, whereas Kotelnik will be a stiffer proposition by virtue of having campaigned consistently at light welter and having such a tight guard.
I still envisage a UD to Khan as Kotelnik's looked distinctly one-paced when I've watched him before, but the fact he can do 12 rounds standing on his head whereas Khan's still a relative novice at the distance adds a degree of ambiguity to proceedings, and couple that with the fact it'll be Khan's first outing at light welter and things get interesting....
