Khan - "I'm a lying Khant!"

Post by slapbangwhallop »

Today - "I've seen Kotelnik a few times and I've always been impressed by him but once my trainer Freddie Roach works out the game plan to beat him it's my job to execute it on the night, as I did effectively against Barrera."

Couple of weeks ago - Question - "Who is the worst world champion?" Khans reply "Andreas Kotelnik"

... bit like saying 'who is the worst team left in the champions league', lets answer for example Porto, then say they are impressive.... its not a non sequitur is it? Kotelnik according to Khan is the worst of the best, still makes him a champion.

And Froch said Calzaghe.

It probably meant that Kotelnik was the first name he thought of, because he had just been talking about him.

Froch was laughing when he said it.

Khan meant it. Of course, he came up with an answer without due consideration but you just know he doesn't rate him. Now all of a sudden he has been 'impressed' by Kotelnik?

What a load of shite.

Excellent job by Fwank Wazza though. Remarkable.

The whole reason he mentioned that name, and then announced the bout a DAY after says it all doesn't it?

Pretty obvious he is playing mind games, and taking a pop at him.

It was over a week ago he said it. You could be right though. If you are, Khan's a better actor than he is a boxer. I'll let you make up your own punchline.

a bit like him saying Kotelnik is the worst champ and then fighting him for a title.Let me guess he was told to say that from his mangement i bet khan knew he was figthing him so he said. or prob might have meant it. if kotelnik wins this by a ko then its over for khan.
khan can win this if he outboxes him and win by points.

Amir Khan is hardly the smartest interview.

Khan's comments are similar to Arthur - "I want to fight Gairy St Clair, the weakest of the champions", a while back.

They don't have to say these things cos we know already that they will always pick on what they feel is the easiest champ.

Lightweight - too hot for Amir, IMO.

should be a good fight anyway. could be as potentially competitive as the likes of Haye-Mormeck, Froch-Pascal, etc. i don't think Khan can keep Kotelnik at bay for more than 6 rds so hopefulyl we'll see what he's made of.

i am not a Kahn fan by any means but come on it's clear to me he said this because he knew the fight was about to be made.
Just the mind games beginning that is all imo.

Completely disagree. If it's mind games/PR...why isn't he still saying it? Why is he now saying he was 'always impressed'?

It wasn't planning; just coincidence.

allegedly just said on Bunceys show that Kahn's comments made Kotelnik want the fight. So it's clear the mind games have worked.
He didn't necessary mean the comments that is why he is not saying them anymore but they clearly served a purpose.

Nah, off all the champions, why would Khan say Kotelnik of all people.

Then all of a sudden, move up weight class, then face HIM off people?
Seems all to neat. Reckon it was planned, to try and get Kotelnik agree to the bout

If Khan does beat Kotelnik, IMO Hatton-Khan seems like a posibility. I've always viewed them from two different time zones, but if Khan gets a good win at light welter it makes it a feasible sell.

I know I've just seen it - Warren had no idea it was a 'joke' and I still stand by the fact it wasn't and Khan meant it.

yeah. silly of khan to say he wa the worlds worst champ and then fight him for his title. ? it did take khan a while to answer the question.
I just wonder to weather khans chin can cope with kotelniks punch when it lands on him. ?
well good for kahn if he wins but can he retain the title futher down the line. ?

I doubt it was planned.

Hardly a great way to hype up such a big fight, is it?

Taking on Khan in England is probably more inviting that taking on Victor Ortiz in the USA. Khan may have beaten Ortiz in the amateurs, but Ortiz has seemingly been developed into the more formidable professional prospect.
