Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed. (Merged)
ive done a little bit of research, had a close look at arguably the top 9 heavyweights of this day and age and compared them to tyson furys record. ive looked at their first 5 fights only, the records of all their opponents added together, and a final figure of the average rounds per fight the leading heavyweight boxed compared to furys first 5 fights
V Klitschko 36-44-1 1.6
W Klitschko 37-45-5 2.6
Chagaev 43-110-1 3.2
Haye 61-103-12 2.0
Valuev 14-29-0 2.6
Povetkin 35-31-3 3.2
Chambers 8-27-1 2.6
Dimitrenko 24-44-4 2.2
Arreola 5-9-4 1.4
Fury 82-60-5 2.2
so what do these stats tell us? well.............
fury and povetkin are the only 2 that have fought fighters amassing more victories than defeats.
vitali klitschko and Arreola are arguably the biggest punchers in their early careers comparing all 10 heavyweights.
tyson fury sits very favourably amoungst these other guys at this stage of his career.
Matthew ellis had had more victories at heavyweight than all opponents added together from arreola and chambers.
so..all in all tyson fury is doing very well at present, we cannot knock the matchmaking, his record is impressive, the punch power seems impressive. so lets get off his back and enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
Records can be disceptive..... Ellis didn't look like the best first 5 fight opponent in his "effort" against Enzo Mac and he fought like Peter McNelley against Tyson.
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
i agree with you stu, but they can also tell you pure facts. furys opponents have been semi decent, they have had goo drecords..it does not mean he is going to go as far as the other 9, but we cant complain at present.

Mathew Ellis weighed in at 14st for the fight, so my question would be.....stujones wrote:Records can be disceptive..... Ellis didn't look like the best first 5 fight opponent in his "effort" against Enzo Mac and he fought like Peter McNelley against Tyson.
What is he doing at heavyweight ?
At that weight, he belongs at cruiserweight and the omens were'nt good as Enzo knocked him out early in his last fight. Tyson is around 19 stones, so it was a suprise that the fight was sanctioned at all
What do you think ?

Stats are all well and good, but it's pretty redundant when Fury looks utter shite inside the ring. He looks as if he's never entered a boxing gym in his life before. He's probably tougher than Big Aud and has a better chin, but at least Audley looked like a could throw punches correctly.
Hey, he beat Matthew Ellis though!![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

Audley beat Mark Krence in his fifth fight; that was a very, very good result for a novice pro, especially with Krence being 11-0 and a prospect himself i.e. had some hunger, unlike the Ellis of 2009.
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
good point oliver, but i also remember audley being rocked to his boots in the same fight......and also rocked to his boots by ellis a number of fights later i think.oliverfennell wrote:Audley beat Mark Krence in his fifth fight; that was a very, very good result for a novice pro, especially with Krence being 11-0 and a prospect himself i.e. had some hunger, unlike the Ellis of 2009.

Its the stats at the end of his career that matter more.
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
I think there is no doubt young Fury is being brought along at the correct pace
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
Ellis was a disgrace on Saturday. At least McNeeley gave it a go against Tyson. Ellis could have at least put his hands up or moved his head. He looked as though he wanted to get KO'd and back to his dressing room as quickly as possible. Embarrassing.

Who's the Cuban heavy thats said he'll fight Fury?
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
I thought the German Kilt guy was very good for a Tyson at this stage. Ellis was a bit of a disgrace I am sorry to say - and I kind of predicted it (without trying to sound to big headed) he hasn't shown much bottle in his comeback everytime someone lands with a combination he crumbles. Well... don't want to sound cruel, he showed something against Enzo - he did get up and survive the round, but showed no ambition.

Things do not bode well for Fury!
Firstly, he is being criticised in some quarters after only FIVE fights!
Secondly & even more worringly, he is being compared to Audley Harrison!
If that's the case, Tyson better find alternative employment now!

Audley was a 32/33 year old man in his pysical prime, an Olympic champion with a long amatuer pedigree.....Tyson Fury is a young lad wth a huge pysique and a lot to learn.
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
is that won lost and drawn....and is it the combined records only leading up to the fights with that particular individual, i.e. not subsequent fights as well.
I wouldn't like to know what you get up to on days when you have nothing to do lol.
No dig but there's a new Tyson Fury thread every day thesedays. He is fighting at extreme end of the weight categories (one end anyway) so it's no wonder he ends up fighting chumps and smaller guys is it when most of the prospects won't touch him with a barge pole.
For me, apart from size, he doesn't possess any more than a few of the other prospects out there, perhaps in one area, and that is he comes ready to throw leather, so that means he could gain the initiative over similar level fighters.
I like to watch Tyson and he comes across as a nice lad to me but I do not foresee this so called easy path he's going to supposedly carve through the division, domestically , let alone the world.

If Tyson Fury was fighting Audley Harrison tomorrow or next year. I would pick Audley to beat him in a heart beat, and Audley sucks.

Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
Fury KO's Fraudley for me, even though I acknowledge he would probably be conceding skill.
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
Tyson Fury said no heavyweight in Britain wants to fight him. Audley has nothing. He doesn't even have a promoter as far as I know. I'm 99% sure if they offered the fight to Audley he would take it. What else does he have? So why isn't it happening? Because Tyson Fury would lose and it would be the end of all the hype.
Mick Hennessy could make that fight with one phone call, but it's not going to happen. If Mick Hennessy and Tyson Fury's team really belived in him. His next fight would be Audley.
They can't have much faith in him. Or this fight would be on.

Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
Tyson needs learning fights, why is everyone trying to match him up to get beat, dont you guys like supporting him,
Re: Tyson Fury.. the raw facts, lets put this to bed.
I understand that. However, I'm going by what Tyson Fury, himself said mate. He said, no heavyweight in Britain wants to fight him.Tyson needs learning fights, why is everyone trying to match him up to get beat, dont you guys like supporting him,
Audley will take the fight. He has no where to go. If Tyson is as good as Mick Hennessy, himself and his team thinks. Then make the fight happen. It would only take 1 phone call. Audley would jump at the chance.
Why are people believing in this hype, when it's clear Mick Hennessy, Tyson Fury and his team clearly don't. By the choices they are clearly making.
