Great Britain sent out a team of seven to the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia. They came home with two gold medals from Terry Spinks and Richard McTaggart, one silver medal from Thomas Nicholls and two bronze medals from Nicholas Gargano and John McCormack. Richard McTaggart was awarded the Val Barker Trophy as the best boxer at the games.
