Cuba sent a full roster to the 22nd Olympics in Athens, Greece, coached by Sarvelio Fuentes, taking over for long time head coach Algires Sagarra. The squad collected five gold medals (Bartelemy, Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Kindelan, Solis), two silver (Jhonson, Aragon), and a bronze (Lopez).
