Ad Zotte died of peritonitis after three operations failed to save him.
He had gone to the hospital two days after fighting Jimmy Walsh of Boston to a draw. He died seven weeks after that fight. Zotte's manager, Sammy McClintic, spent all of his money on Zotte's well-being. Zotte was 17 or 18 and had been boxing for only two years. Chicago Tribune 08/19/1913
(Roy Moore supposedly had 4 decisions over Zotte; two are confirmed here.)
