"Adolph Pruitt, 143, Los Angeles, avenged a December defeat Tuesday night by stopping WBC junior welterweight champion Pedro Adigue, 142 1/2, Philippines, at 1:46 of the 5th round in a scheduled 10 round non-title bout. Pruitt, the WBA's 5th ranking junior welterweight, floored Adigue in the 1st round for an eight count and dropped him again for another eight count in the 5th before referee Wilbert Minn stopped the fight. Pruitt thus avenged a 15 round defeat by Adigue last December 14th, when they fought in Manila for the WBC version of the title." -United Press International
