Al Fletcher won two New York Golden Gloves Championships. Fletcher won both the 1973 and 1974 147lb Open Championships. In 1974 Fletcher defeated Jose Elias in the finals to win the Championship. Fletcher trained at the Morrisania Youth Center in the Bronx, New York.
