Gordon was another of the many talented Jewish fighters to come out of Philadelphia during this first half of the 20th century. Gordon started boxing at the age of 15 while still in high school! He was a world class fighter during the height of his career, but never given a shot at the Junior Lightweight or Lightweight Title. In 1928 he was ranked as high as the #4 Junior Lightweight in the World by Ring magazine.
